Meanwhile... The Cubs have hired Manny Ramierez to be a player/ coach at AAA Iowa to be mentor to their up and coming hitters. Noted Cubs fan Al Bundy responded...  No word yet if Carlos Zambrano will be brought back to mentor our young pitchers. |

Would anyone else be interested in a sports memorabilia thread? I was thinking about photographing some of the pieces in my collection in storage and was wondering if others had similar collections they'd like to share.

It adds an aura to the Cubs. 100+ years with no championship. That is pretty awesome. |

They've had some pretty decent clubs that just missed. 69, 84 and 89 come to mind.

I love my Cubs hat! (Even though I live in California and root for the Dodgers.)
I especially love the way I'll be walking down the street here in Southern California and I'll hear "Go Cuuuuuubs! Yeeeaaaaahhhh!" or "Chicagooooooo!" and I'll look around and see somebody hanging out of their car and waving their arms and screaming.

Arrgh...I hate variant covers that tempt me. I am working on the Diamond order for my LCS and just noticed DC is doing a ton of Batman variants on many of their titles (both Batbooks and non-batbooks) a theme celebrating the 75th anniversary of Batman. No minimum order threshold like some variants, so shops can order as many as they want...no big whoop, not really into variants, until I learned Steranko did one of the variants for Detective #33. Me want Steranko cover. Me hate variants. Soooo conflicted... -M I don't like variants either, but I can tolerate them if they're the type that isn't rare and cost the same as the regular issue. For example, a comic that has an A cover and a B cover and you just pick the one you like for the $3 or so. So I say Sternako trumps the variant hate in this limited case. |
