I've been renting and downloading CDs from my local libraries recently and am now working on comedy albums. I've heard of Dane Cook but never actually heard his material. They have 4-5 of his albums available. Opinions anyone? I got no problem with x-rated comedy so thats no issue I'm not a fan at all. He strikes me as the guy at the party who thinks he's holding court, but really everybody wants him to shut up. Couldn't have put it better myself. I'd also put Daniel Tosh in that category too.

Dane Cook's first album was actually pretty funny, I thought. After that, ehhhhh.

The voice of CCF has come through loud and clear. Dane Cook will be relegated way to the back of the line of what I borrow from the library and whenever I get to him, it'll be just the 1st album I'll check out

Thinking on comedians, and the difference I find between good stand up comedians and funny actors/actresses, maybe he could find a role that he is funny with. There are few comedians that make funny actors. Being funny in front of a camera in scripted dialouge (whether the actor has a hand in writing the script or not) and being funny in front of a mike, are two different things. Dave Chappelle comes to mind as one of the few that can pull off both and be funny. Jim Carey is a funny actor, but his stand up (of what I've heard) isn't as funny. I can't see, one of my favorite stand up comedians, Jim Gaffigan pulling off a movie role. His humor caters to observations about himself and others, which may not translate if given a scripted role. I find Rodney Dangerfield a much funny actor than stand up comedian. I'd imagine George Carlin could pull of both, but I've only seen him in the bit part he had in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Bill Burr also did well in some of the minor roles he had in the Dave Chappelle Show and the two specials of his I watched just this weekend.

Very good point. Comedy is all about the timing and the delivery, and they can make or break otherwise good material. Acting versus speaking i.e. standup are two very different skill sets as you say.

For a long time now my computer has acted funny when connected to the internet. I always thought it was this Wifi plug I had been using, but then things got worse. It got bad once before and I think I fixed it but forgot what I did. It's also possible it just stopped on it's own. Anyway, I was investigating the computer and found three suspected viruses. And if they are viruses they're the bad kind that imitate critical system applications and are undetectable by antivirus software and are basically impossible to remove, and even if I did there's a 50% chance I'm removing the critical app instead. I've been neglecting my system image for a while, which is all for the better really since I don't know exactly when this started happening, possibly more than a year. So I'm preparing for a full system restore this week. In the meanwhile my internet use may be limited.

Also, I'm preparing to rebuild my computer. I want to salvage as many parts as possible from this one. The performance of my current computer is fine, it's just missing a few features I'd like to have, and I'm putting it in a nicer looking case that will allow me to house it on a TV stand along with some stereo equipment. This is the case I'm buying later today, just waiting on a reply to a question with an eBay seller

I need to reimage my work computer because it's getting dog slow. Probably doesn't help all the remote computers I have to connect to for troubleshooting and installs, as well as software & upgrades that I test on it. I hope all goes well for you.

Rebuilding your computer can be fun, too, and there are a lot of resources out there now to help with that. If your parts are recent-ish and you want to find compatible parts and deals, I recommend pcpartpicker.com. It's very easy to use and prevents you from buying something you can't use. And honestly, buying a solid state drive and doing a fresh install of your OS is a near guaranteed way to dramatically improve performance on nearly any computer.

Yay, hondobrode discovered my tumblr. Yes I did, and I'm having fun over there posting and spreading the word about CCF. I tried FB for the little bit I was trying to promote this site but wasn't comfortable with it. Tumblr isn't the most popular, but I really like it. Anyone else over there besides Pip and me ?

I don't know much about Tumbl, though I've heard that's where a lot of the crazy, fanatical political-correctness-to-the-absurd folks congregate, but I'm sure that's exaggerated like everything else you read online. Is there any truth to that, or is it a more diverse place than is commonly hinted at elsewhere? Unfortunately, I don't have enough free time to invest in yet another internet community at the moment regardless.

No, I'd say it can be pretty far from overly politically correct. In fact, in the few months I've been on I've only seen 1 post taken down, and apparently that was because the couple was showing themselves having sex on a public stairs. Other than that, the spectrum is pretty vast.
It's fun seeing what other people post. As you might guess, my searches are heavily comic-oriented, although sometimes I just cruise to see what else is cool on there.
Sometimes there are some politically inclined postings, or current events, but since it's posting and less direct back and forth, there aren't the flamers.
I just realized after typing this that I need to explain that I'm solely on the photo section, though there are gifs there too. Tumblr offers different sections including video, text, quote, link, and chat.
I've only explored the Photo area but have really liked it.

I consider myself VERY liberal, but these kids are the far left version of the Third Reich.

Thanks for the suggestion with that link. Choosing the correct parts is the hardest part for sure. Especially when I want to salvage parts. All I really want is a GPU and a motherboard. And a blu ray drive but choosing that will be far easier. Right now I have a fast processor and lots of ram so I'm fine reusing those. And I plan on upgrading hard drives as time goes on but not necessarily at the beginning. My processor and ram are at a 7.3 (out of 7.9) on the Windows Experience Index, and my hard drive speed is at a 5-something. Graphics is my weak link. I don't game anyway so I never cared, but one of the main features I want is dual HDMI ports so I can hook it up to a stereo receiver so while I'm doing that I might as well bring the graphics up to comparable scores as the rest of the stuff.
