I used to forget the poop bags, but have them stored with the harnesses now so I don't forget them. Funny that you're talking about deleting Explorer 11, MG. I tried to log on to my company VPN but it requires IE 10. I knew it was going to be ugly, and eventually I quit and figured I'd talk to the local admin tomorrow. Sure doesn't help me bone up on my training though. My oldest daughter is getting married this upcoming week. Looking forward to it, but I wish I felt better about my soon-to-be son-in-law. He doesn't have a full-time job and just turned 29. My daughter has never complained about it, but it bothers me and the rest of my family. He's smart and got his bachelor's in Political Science, I think. He's frugal and a good guy, but I just don't understand at least trying to work. I explained how I felt regarding this to my daughter a couple of years ago and said I wouldn't bring it up again. Nothing has changed. Should I feel this way ? She's obviously all right with it, but I don't understand it. It's odd, but the prospects out there are still slim. Sometimes it's worth not devaluing your trade by accepting a job paying less than you believe your skill is worth. Not everyone can afford to do that, and many have to take the low paying jobs to feed their kids. But I'd rather not. And if you only have one skilled trade and there's no opening within it, that usually leaves the service industry as your only option. Part time minimum wage is not going to bring home a lot of cash. Maybe he and your daughter both think his time is better used elsewhere than bussing tables? I don't know though, you probably aren't troubled for nothing. If you're seeing red flags I say don't ignore them. But if you promised your daughter not to bring it up again, maybe you shouldn't do that either. Monitor quietly and be there if she wants to bring it up. I'm doing exactly like you said. He repairs computers here and there a little and flips stuff on ebay, which is all ok, but it's not a career, and certainly far less than he's capable of. Even working at Best Buy bringing in 20K-something / year is something. If they could live off my daughter's income, why not work a real job, even low stress, doing something you like, and investing it ? That'd be at least $ 1M by the time they retire. |

I always thought that it meant- I am pointing out something that is obvious to everyone. "Just saying" is more like "I just said something utterly cruel, but I stated it like a fact, so let it go." I don't mind it, if I am talking with friends who know me, and I know them, and I KNOW they are just joking around. But, usually, it just makes me want to punch people. |

I had a vivid dream last night that I was on some American chat show or other reviewing the Al Williamson drawn issues of Marvel's old Star Wars comic. I think maybe I need to spend less time thinking about the upcoming issues in my Star Wars review thread.  |

I'm not normally a violent person but at this moment I wish ?i could shove a loaded shotgun in the mouths of every sitting Republican politician and blow their collective heads off. Thanks to their ceaseless efforts to f**k over anyone who isn't a rich, white, straight, able-bodied male, I can look forward to serious injury when the manual wheelchair I'm currently stuck with collapses because, you see, their new Medicare regulations stick me in a catch-22 that blocks me from purchasing a replacement. I can't even let friends or family buy me one because it would count as income and I'd be penalized. My Social and Health Services caseworker was actually sobbing when she broke the news to me a little while ago... but she did say the new regs are being revisited after a virtual tsunami of protests from people like her, disability advocacy groups and even the medical supply vendors themselves (who, under the current set-up, have to provide the equipment up front and eat the cost if Medicare denies their claim). So there's some small hope, at least. Now if only my old chair will hold on that long...

Starting today I'm living off the credit card I was THIS CLOSE to paying off. It's okay, I have plenty of work clocked and money in the mail, just don't know when it's going to actually arrive. As long as work stays as steady as it has been I won't be falling into debt. The boss called me today and said he wanted me to get another license. That's $2000 I don't have, and what I'm actuall still not quite done paying off on my card, so I said now is a bad time. But the more licenses = the more time spent working, and I DO want to get that next license as soon as I can. It may be a couple months though. I've dug myself pretty deep, not into debt, but into poverty. I haven't had a bank account this low in years and it makes me paranoid. So maybe after the summer I can take that class and have my license ready for next year.

I've been trying to replace the old chair for two years through the proper channels. They're going to notice if I just suddenly drop the request. I'm used to jumping through bureaucratic hoops so normally I'd just wait it out but the old chair, which I bought back in '98 and which I have to use in my daily routine, is all too literally falling apart.
