I can't remember the last time I purchased a calendar. You wouldn't have to remember if you'd marked it on your. . .oh, right.

Good grief. Interesting times here at work, in the sense of the alleged old Chinese curse. The executive director/chief operating officer retired effective 4 days ago during the organization's national conference. (No, I didn't attend. I've been to only one of those in my 10 years here. I'm quite happy about that.) That happened a day after a closed session by the executive board, during which one board member resigned, supposedly "in disgust." And now it comes out that the chief finance officer resigned Friday. Of course, the COO's retirement & the CFO's resignation were thinly disguised firings, supposedly. Meanwhile, we haven't released a single word about any of this. My supervisor is in a meeting (one hour long & counting) right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't remain the status quo. As for whether any of this will affect my job ... who knows? Aaaaamd following up on this from nigh unto 4 months ago, the guy who stepped in as interim COO -- formerly head of my department (& not to be confused with my largely clueless immediate supervisor) -- was announced as the permanent COO today. He's a good guy, & I've always gotten along with him very well. So ... actual good news.

Otehrwise, getting ready to drive to my hometown (well, a little west of there, to Texarkana, for motel purposes) this Saturday. Thinking about renting a car, since my '96 Maxima, at 177K miles, isn't getting any newer. I've done that only twice in my life, for a couple of days while my car was being worked on in late '89 or so in NW Louisiana after the road construction accident I mentioned a few days ago, & for a drive from North Little Rock to Dallas & back again in mid-2000 after my '88 Colt decided to conk out a couple of days before a Cure concert for which I had tickets. (Auto problems forced me to eat my tickets for a Bauhaus reunion show, also in Dallas, during that same general period, & I wasn't about to let it happen again.)

Glad to see you had your priorities straight in regard to getting to that Cure show no matter what, although sorry to hear you missed the Bauhaus reunion.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but Jim Starlin was injured when a soda making machine blew up in his home. Injuries to his hand I think.

Hurt his hand pretty bad, and his eye wasn't looking too good either. The company that makes these soda machines denies that their product is unsafe.

Maybe the machine was too close to the infinity gauntlet.

Maybe the machine was too close to the infinity gauntlet. Hes gonna need to practice better with his omnipotence than Thanos did if he's blowing up soda machines.
