It's more than just the 6 beers I've had. Or that I just played some Resident Evil 5 with my son; but I'm not denying the chemical reactions in my brain are fueling it. But I'm in a "I love you guys mood". So I'm posting it. Glad to be a part of this forum.
I love you guys and gals! :-)

It's the second most valuable issue in the series too, after #1. I don't own either yet, I suck. I think lolatadatodo has it though... She does?!🙎 I don't even own any comics that old and I have been collecting a lot longer than her. I am a bigger slacker than I thought. I know she has at least 1 that's older than even that one.

An update: The earliest I can get to a dentist is February 3, which means I need to abstain from long hours (well, any hours, truthfully) on the computer between now and then. In the interim, I'm working on setting up for speech-to-text. It's not the greatest of solutions but it's that or choose between my teeth and my writing career. So I will continue to be a mostly phantom presence here until my appointment. Cei-U! I summon the stone cold drag! Oy! Hang in there my friend. Hope the speech to text allows you to remain productive in the interim. -M

Just a reminder folks, if you preorder books at the comic shop via a pull list, pick up your books... nothing hurts a store more than tying up their available liquid capital in merchandise that doesn't sell. They base their orders on guaranteed sales via their pull system, if you don't pick up your books, smaller shops might not have the capital available to pay for next week's books. I've seen a ot of shops go under because of this. I've been to Packrat comics, their good guys, their situation however is from unique. full article on BCif you can't pick up your stuff at least let them know so they can sell it to someone else and get their money back... basically don't be a d*ck customer. Comic shops have it hard enough trying to survive without being sabotaged by their own customer base. -M

What I do is that I have a Membership Card that handles all my Pre-Order stuff for me - it's like a Store Credit that I've authorized my LCS to take out what they need and sends me the stuff via mail and/or I pick it at the store that I go to. It's a win-win for me and the store itself. I always put $100 every month on my card and they handle the rest. It's works for me and I'm happy about it and doing it for the past ten years.

2017 will be a year of change for my family. My oldest daughter will be getting married. My youngest daughter will graduate from college. Our house will be paid off. I am going to work part time (25 hrs/week instead of 50 hrs/week). 2 weeks into this "new" life. The positives: my stress level is way down. I have been going to the gym. I feel well rested. I'm more relaxed. I don't have to rush around getting things done. My wife & I have time to do things together (we attended a play of Beauty & the Beast & went to a Hockey game!). The negatives: I have no excuse now to not get things done around the house. And my work has already started to ask me to work more shifts again!

It's an understood "contract" that I will order and hold these books for you and you will come buy them on a semi-regular basis. The other thing I hated was when I would call to remind them of the growing pile of books in their box and they would come in and buy 10% of the books, as if that was going to make a difference. Worse yet was when they grabbed a pull list change form and started adding more books, then went to the shelves to grab books they missed in the months they never came in. Can't turn down any sale, but that was frustrating seeing 100's of dollars worth of books still sitting there while they dropped a commensurate amount on non-pulled books.

Today I learned C-3PO's right lower leg is silver, and not gold. MIND BLOWN LOL...yes, that's right. I first noticed this back in about 1979, when I received a Star Wars jigsaw puzzle for my birthday made out of this image... This deliberate mismatching of colour was done to reinforce the "used galaxy" aesthetic that George Lucas was going for in the first Star Wars film. It's the same reason why Luke Skywalker's landspeeder is covered in dents and has some of its engine cowlings missing, or why the Millennium Falcon looks so beat up. Up until that point, the look of sci-fi films was usually one of spotless, futuristic cleanliness and uniformity, a la 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Lucas was actively trying to get away from that. Of course, these days, with the release of the prequel trilogy, we know that at one point, C-3PO was entirely encased in silver plating, but that was removed and he was in his usual golden casing in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. He's also entirely gold in the Star Wars: Droids cartoon and comics, which are set after ROTS, but before the original trilogy. So, the silver "lower leg plate" must've been attached to his right leg between the events of the Droids cartoon and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. To the best of my knowledge (and take that with a pinch of salt, because I've not read everything), I don't think that any definitive explanation has ever been given as to why his lower right leg is silver in any of the Expanded Universe novels or comics.

Aaargh! There's a new Lobster Johnson out today, but I can't make it to my LCS until tomorrow. I'm going to try and resist reading any previews or anything...

Susan and I are getting the divorce.
Told her my intentions yesterday and we're working out logistics now.
I don't hate her, in fact, I love her, but that's why I'm leaving.
She didn't yesterday, but I think today, she understands. We're going to stay in touch, just not under the same roof, in the same state.
Crazy ?

I found myself annoyed yet amused at the irony this afternoon driving to work when I got stuck behind a Dodge Intrepid driving very timidly (going about 20 mph below the posted speed limit on a busy one lane road with no passing allowed, it was sprinkling but 60 degrees at the time so no chance of icing despite it being January). No cell phone distractions for him, just while knuckle driving way too slow in the rain in his Intrepid).
Maybe Dodge needs a new advertising slogan: The Dodge Intrepid, for drivers who aren't.
