Long couple of days. Spent 16+ hours in the ER with my wife Thursday night into Friday; she was having strange radiating pain starting in her back and chest and radiating up her neck and down her arm, so we brought her in to see what was going on. We still don't know the cause, but we eliminated all the crisis possibilities, no cardiac event, no blood clots, she did a stress test and the results came back normal. She's home and resting now and has some follow up appointments next week. After bringing her in, I had to go into work last night, not having slept since Wednesday night, got through the shift and came home and collapsed. Just woke up a little while ago and need to get ready to go back into work at 5 tonight. Everything has worked itself out, but it just made for a long stretch of worry and frustration with modern ER policies and function.
Now to try to catch up on all the chores and other things around the house that fell behind and get things back to a normal keel.

I took my 13 year old son to pick up a girl that is a friend to take them both to the school's Valentine Day's dance. She was waiting at the end of their driveway in her dress for him. I played a PG Barry White CD but they were too busy talking to each other.
Yesterday I took off from work early to take him to a funeral of a friend of his from school that died at 15 years old from Alagille Syndrome; a rare genetic disorder. Talk about two emotional events on opposite ends of the spectrum.

February in the northeast. One polar vortex after another. It was much more bearable when we used to have cold fronts

Did anyone else watch the Grammys? What a MESS. Whoever was running that show should be flogged or fired. Mistakes left and right. They played the wrong band's music for Megadeth's award, on Metallica's duet with Lady Gaga Metallica's microphone wasn't working, they didnt even announce Metallica, just Gaga who was guesting on their song, they shut off the mic and lights on Adele's songwriter...UGH! What a mess!

I am now up to Candy Crush Soda Saga level 429 and wondering about the meaning of life. I thought when you retired from the working world, you were supposed to get away from those mind-crushing numbness inducing computer-related tasks that ties up your days... -M

If only that was so easy during these dismal cold days of February. At least I'm avoiding Senior Citizen Centers and the latest Marvel Event comics

This past Sunday morning, I let my two dogs out in the backyard to pee. When the little one ( Chihuahua) came up the stairs he was limping. As the day progressed, he started to scream when he moved and whenever I picked him up. We finally took him to the vet yesterday and discovered that he hurt his neck while climbing the stairs. The Doc gave us anti-inflammatory meds for the little guy. He also told us to carry him up and down the stairs because he's 70 years old in dog years.

We had to put down our cat last week, and it started with the same symptoms. Give him an extra long ear scratch for me today

Slam_Bradley Over the weekend my 13 year old son came in when I was watching Clone Wars to ask me something about Green Arrow, in comparison to the show Arrow. After the conversation I got to thinking I didn't have as much Oliver Queen GA as I did Conner Hawke. But I got out Longbow Hunters, and he actually sat and read all three issues, there while I watched TV. It's the first comic he's really read. Other books he glances through, or may read one issue and he gets bored. My wife watches Arrow too, and she said he told her the following day that he liked those books but wished they would have ended the story. (I haven't read it in a long enough time to remember how the book ends.) So I am thinking of getting him the first few TPB of the Mike Grell run of GA. Plus the fact that he's never been entertained by any superhero to the extent he has with GA by watching Arrow. So I figured if he liked Longbow Hunters, he might like more Mike Grell GA.

If he likes Arrow, look at the Green Arrow Year One trade by Andy Diggle and Jock. It's more modern, but it is the inspiration for Ollie's origin on the show and one of the few post-Grell GA books I really liked. -M
