So my father's funeral was held last Monday. It was actually a very beautiful ceremony. A big crowd turned up, mostly my father's relatives. It was nice to find comfort in each other. It still feels like there's a big open wound in my chest, but I think the healing has started.

This past Sunday morning, I let my two dogs out in the backyard to pee. When the little one ( Chihuahua) came up the stairs he was limping. As the day progressed, he started to scream when he moved and whenever I picked him up. We finally took him to the vet yesterday and discovered that he hurt his neck while climbing the stairs. The Doc gave us anti-inflammatory meds for the little guy. He also told us to carry him up and down the stairs because he's 70 years old in dog years.  Just glad he's okay. We had to put down our cat last week, and it started with the same symptoms. Give him an extra long ear scratch for me today  I'm really sorry to hear that, Shax. Losing pets is always hard. |

Just glad he's okay. We had to put down our cat last week, and it started with the same symptoms. Give him an extra long ear scratch for me today I'm really sorry to hear that, Shax. Losing pets is always hard. It was hardest on the kids, but they're okay. It was a valuable lesson about loss, and I'm glad their first go at it was with a pet and not a human. Thank you. |

I noticed a sequel to John Wick was released this past week. Does anyone know anything about these movies? I noticed that Keeanu Reeves is starring, I hadn't seen him in any movies in a while.

Both movies are a hoot. And I say that as someone who does not care for Keanu Reeves. Be aware that they are just pure Action movies though they do stick a reasonable amount of characterization in among the fights. There really isn't a huge amount of meat on the bones. But the marrow makes a helluva soup. |

Fun action movies. Light on plot, heavy on slick action. Includes fist fights, knife fights, martial arts, gun fights (gun fu ala John Woo style) and car race/fights (think car fu, using cars as weapons). The 1st Wick was a sleeper hit. Basic story: Wick is a retired assassin forced/drawn back into doing what he hates but is good at. To quote Wolverine: he is the best at what he does. A legend to all and feared/respected by all but the stupidest. There is a guaranteed 3rd movie and in talks for a "prequel" television series. It is the world of assassins and how even they have a code of honor and morality within the context of their world and how it functions in the real world. Wick kills slicker, faster, smoother, cleaner, cooler and way higher body count than Bond could hope or dream of... |
