I just got an e-mail from CBR impersonally wishing me a happy birthday. Nice to know their automated system still works, I guess. Cei-U! I summon the Ghost of Message Boards Past! I'm personally sad that CBR knew it was your birthday and we didn't. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my good man!!!

Did mrp run out of cakes? Well, Happy Birthday Kurt, this puddings for you Eh, the first time through I did everyone's birthday, the second time through I limited it to members I knew were active, by the time I was approaching the third time through I didn't have the wherewithal to keep doing it and coming up with ways to try to make the birthday wishes interesting and unique, so I stopped. It's been months since I posted one and no one really noticed or said anything 'til now, so I don't think it's a much missed effort. Anyone who wants is free to pick up the tradition. -M

Kurt, when is the Earth-Two Kurt's birthday? And is he 10 years older than you? Happy belated birthday from a fellow Silver-Ager!

Question. If for some reason you felt compelled by some natural urge to disappear from your current family, friends, and other associates in an attempt to try and start a new life...do you believe you could be successful? How would you do it without leaving a trace as to where you'd go or what happened to you while also minimizing the difficulty to starting your new "life"?

How would you do it without leaving a trace as to where you'd go or what happened to you while also minimizing the difficulty to starting your new "life"? Asking for a friend? It depends if I wanted to be malicious to my wife and daughters. If I didn't, then it would be very difficult for me to do so. In the event I took leave of my compassion for my family, it actually would be relatively easy for me to do this. I do all of the financial management for us, so I could drain all bank accounts, IRAs, kids' college funds, and 401(k)s over a short period of time, as well as get access to bank accounts that I co-own with my mother for legal reasons. These actions would provide me a considerable amount of cash with which to disappear, and I know people who know people, so setting up a new identity would be little trouble at all. Within a month, I could be a brand new person in a brand new place, able to start earning money while still having reserves to live off of, and as I don't need much, so I could get by on relatively little income for the rest of my life. Not that I've ever thought about something like this before...

As for your response, if you did take money with you wouldn't it arouse suspicion that you went and started a new life? I guess what I had in mind would be to essentially vanish without a trace without known cause or reason. So touching financials would be out of the question. There is a man based out of my neck of the woods that may have done this. Of course he had a boat. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Gray_(computer_scientist)There is also a crazy theory about it on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/5nbr0g/did_jim_gray_fake_his_death_and_post_about_it_on/

I would just call Homeland Security and declare myself to be an undercover agent of ISIS. The government would then take care of all the small details regarding my disappearance and future lodging.
