My wife has watched all of those; Buffy, Smallville, Angel and Charmed. Angel is the only one I've watched much of because I thought he was the best part of Buffy. Especially once he stopped moping over that chick. And Charmed has Holly Marie Combs. Who always got to me stop and watch for a few minutes when I'd see her character. :-) I liked Holly as early seasons Piper as middle-sister-with-bangs, though she transitioned into the elder sister role quite gracefully. But if there's one character that got me to stop and watch, it's neighbour Dan in season 2: <3 Greg Vaughan. (He also had a bit part in an early Buffy episode, as a college student who worshipped a giant snake monster ) And went on to marry Dutch model/actress Touriya Haoud:

The first few pages of this thread give insight into the history of the board for those of us who weren't here back then. I joined the CBR board years ago, but never really got into posting or lurking there. I have a vague idea of reading this entire thread. I wouldn't try to bite it all off at once if I decide to keep reading it. Going over those first couple of pages, it's hard to believe it's been almost three years. It makes me glad this particular community is still around and going strong. I'm a bit worried about some of the larger-scale message boards I'm a member of, and I've seen a lot of forums being put on the shelf for the sake of social media in recent years. But I'm not too worried about the CCF.

Not necessarily the actor but I really liked the character Four in the Insurgent movie I watched with my wife recently. She had read the books but I haven't yet. But the character of Four is such a cool badass. Definitely got the vibe of that whole "male power role" fantasy from his character. Lol

My girlfriend and I just started watching Mad Men from the beginning for the first time (we've wanted to watch it for ages and both love it, by the way). Anyway, I would really love to see a Spider-Man TV show set in the early '60s, heavily based on the Steve Ditko-drawn issues of Amazing Spider-Man and with the same attention to period detail and production values as Mad Men.

I doubt it will happen anytime soon, but I would love to see A-list superheroes like Batman and Spider-Man with TV shows that matched the quality of Daredevil or Jessica Jones. And no villain-of-the-week nonsense either!

That would great. I'm not much of a Spider-Fan, but I would watch that show in a heartbeat.

I binge watched another 4 episodes last night and am remembering how many changes the show goes through. I'm still on season 1 and recall that Lana Lang actually marries Lex Luthor in one of the later seasons. I remember Supergirl , but not many details about her time on the show. I don't mean to put the show down too much: I'm not a Superman or DC fan in the first place so it was always going to be an uphill struggle for it to click with me. I never watched the first few dvds, but I skipped ahead to where I'd heard they started introducing other superhero characters like the Green Arrow, Supergirl, etc. Then I stopped shortly after Supergirl left the show, so i missed the last few as well. I watched the premiere broadcast and didn't think much, then skipped it for the remained of the next few seasons. Then, a co-worker told me I was missing out and lent me the dvds. The first season is really uneven and I didn't care for much of any of it, though it does have moments. The second season got better and so did the third. I liked some of what they did with Clark, hated others. I liked John Schneider and Annette O'Toole as the Kents and loved Michael Rosenbaum as Lex and John Glover as Lionel Luthor. The weak links for me were the bully Whitney (who was disposed of, at the end of the first season, to go off and butcher Flash Gordon) and Kristin Kreuk as Lana. She was so one-note and the teen soap opera annoyed me. Chloe grew on me, after a while, though she was often too obnoxious. I stuck around through season 6 and then found myself bored with it, as they were stalling on turning Clark into Superman. The other heroes and villains were mostly distractions. However, I loved the addition of Erica Durance as Lois Lane. She got the character, which neither Kate Bosworth nor Amy Adams did. She livened things up, on the romance front, which was a requirement for the CW target audience. I never did watch it again, after season 6 and the clips I have seen haven't done much to make me think I missed anything spectacular. Kara was a decent addition to things. Being 35 when it launched, I definitely wasn't the target demographic, comic fan or not. I hated most of the romantic subplots as they were ridiculously shallow, though once in a while they did something right with them. I did like the parental aspects and Clark learning his values and developing his natural leadership. That appealed more than mock heroics. The torn nature of Lex was interesting, as he struggles with so many influences, for good and bad. it was the most layered Luthor since Elliot Maggin's work on the character.

That sounds AMAZING. It would be impressive and different to see several superhero shows set in their time period of origin. A 1940s Batman series would be VERY welcome!

The CCF facebook page did in fact exceed 2,000 likes this past weekend, and we're on track to see the site's 200,000th post sometime today.

I'd take an animated Batman set in the 40s.

I like that Batman animation much better than I usually like Bruce Timm's stuff. Great atmosphere, and Batman isn't as top-heavy as he used to make the male superheroes in his JLA cartoons.

Hey, what happened to Somnolent Sorceress? I was browsing the music thread, and it's like her posts have vanished into thin air.
EDIT: OK, had a name change to 'popzeus' and her account is now inactive? Strange.

My wife likes to tease me about liking Antonio Banderas. :-) I'm heterosexual but that's a handsome man. Desperado is one of my favorite films of his. Hey I get that, if ever I was going to...bat for the other side...Antonio Banderas circa Desperado would be ideal. Always thought that Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood was another like this, so pretty anyone could fall in lust with him, regardless of sexual persuasion.
