I avoided watching Buffy the first year for that very reason: I never have been a big fan of high-school dramas this new show sounded like 90210 plus vampires. But then I happened to catch part of an episode mid-way through the 2nd season and, surprised at how good it was, soon became a regular viewer. Haven't tried watching it since it ended, though. I think the high school seasons of Buffy are the best. Once they got into season 4 and beyond, I felt as though the show was less about Buffy trying to juggle her personal life and her duties as a slayer, and more about the fight against evil. By the time they started to turn Buffy's house into Potential Slayer Boot Camp, I felt the show had kinda lost its way. A fantasy show starring twenty-somethings going about their daily life that resonates more with me is Charmed >ducks behind the counter<. I think Buffy is overall the better-written show, but Charmed has a special place in my heart and I still re-watch it almost as often as Buffy. I never have watched Charmed. Without really thinking about it much I sort of wrote it off as an attempt to cash in on the popularity of the Buffy show, which was probably unfair of me. Maybe I should give it a look some time.

My wife likes to tease me about liking Antonio Banderas. :-) I'm heterosexual but that's a handsome man. Desperado is one of my favorite films of his. Hey I get that, if ever I was going to...bat for the other side...Antonio Banderas circa Desperado would be ideal. Always thought that Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood was another like this, so pretty anyone could fall in lust with him, regardless of sexual persuasion. He has a lot of charsima on-screen. I remember watching the Frida Kahlo movie in which he has a small part: I didn't know he was in it and didn't recognise him when his character was on screen, but wondered who this guy was that seemed to take over the movie whenever he was in a scene. Then of course I looked it up afterwards and went, "oh, it was Banderas."

But when he's the good guy, he kicks the bad guys' a$$e$ with style, always gets the lady and he's good with kids. He's the epitony of the adolescent male role model, that I guess for some of us, we never grow out of. Even when he's the bad guy. Sorry Sylvester, even in Assassins as a really egotistical bad guy he stole every scene he was in.

It has a very different tone from Buffy, and I've noticed that for some people that can be a turn-off when they're expecting something Buffy-esque. But I'd say Charmed is definitely worth a look-see. Especially the early seasons, but that's personal bias.

Shannen Doherty made those early seasons of Charmed worth a look-see all right!

Just wanted to share with you these pictures of my encounter with the great Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. What a lovely gentleman! I got a buncha stuff autographed, including the Batman vs. Hulk one-shot, the Superman vs. Wonder Woman treasury, and Batman: Reign of Terror. He told us that the art for my favorite of his books, the Batman/Scalphunter Brave & Bold, was stolen years ago. Too bad. I'd have sold a kidney for a page from that story. Now that I've met Garcia-Lopez, I'm down to just Jerry Ordway on my list of Comics Guys I Must Meet Before One or the Other of Us Dies. Cei-U! I summon the fanboy stupor!

Would you, er... be interested in a deal, perhaps? But all jokes aside, it's insanely cool that you got to meet the legendary Mr. Garcia-Lopez face to face. He's one of my artistic heroes!

He is such a great artist and it's nice to know he's a great guy too.

Today we had an inventarisation day at the warehouse, using an elevated platform to reach the higher pallet rackings, and all I could think of was how the Stilt-Man suit would have come in handy for once.

Tires of the Future - Sphere Tires from GoodyearWhat a radical and cool concept this is ... Talk about putting the cart before the horse? All of this controlled by a magnetic field.Has there even been a magnetic field created yet that is reliable and functional and consistent and stable and adaptable and affordable to even think of doing this? Half the time i can't keep the magnets on my refrigerator to stay on when the door closes, let alone manage for them to control my vehicle? Is this pure science fantasy and dreaming and totally unrealistic?

It's pretty reliable. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magleven.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_levitation
