My new studio/gallery opened to the public this weekend and I managed to sell 6 pieces. The next step is opening an online store and expanding my buyer base. I think there might be something to this whole "working artist" business after all. Great stuff, Gene! Your artwork totally deserves that kind of appreciation! Congrats Gene that's awesome. 😀 |

I know you guys are probably tired of hearing about my job hunting woes on the MMB, but you'll be happy to know that those blues have finally ended. I just received an internship offer from a HR and risk management consulting firm, as part of their benefits division! I'll be in their Atlanta office for the summer, so I don't have to stray too far from school. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go get wast- er, I mean celebrate!  Congrats man well done. ☺ |

2017 continues to be a year of change for my family. In May my 22 yr old daughter graduates college & in Aug my 25 yr old daughter gets married. My oldest daughter works in foster care/adoption & has convinced us we are not ready to be empty nesters (& we aren't!). So we are in the process of adopting a 13 yr old boy. We get a son that LOVES comic books. And we hope to give him a stable home so that he can feel loved & safe. We hope things go smoothly so the process goes quickly.

My oldest daughter works in foster care/adoption & has convinced us we are not ready to be empty nesters (& we aren't!). So we are in the process of adopting a 13 yr old boy. We get a son that LOVES comic books. And we hope to give him a stable home so that he can feel loved & safe. We hope things go smoothly so the process goes quickly. Good for you and your family. Giving a loving home to a kid who needs it is a truly noble thing to do. That he loves comics is a huge bonus. |

I have a long box waiting for him when he hopefully moves in for good in June. Right now we only have him weekends so he can finish his school year & start over in our district as a 9th grader. That is a perfect time since several of the Jr High schools will be funneling into the HS. |

It seems quaint to talk about the weather these days, but a recent evening storm here in North Georgia gave us a bit of a jolt. A lot of electrical activity and very high winds conspired to bring down a big, thirty-year-old pine at the end of my driveway, falling across power lines before coming to rest in my neighbor's yard. Thank heaven no one was hurt. We were without power for 12 hours.  Finally, in the morning a crew arrived to rescue us. This was the view from my driveway:  Thankfully, I hadn't gotten around to "sparing" my family members à la Thomas Jane in The Mist before those heroes arrived.   The Aftermath |

He loves reading. He couldn't believe all the books we have. We have 6 books shelves scattered thru the house (one in each bedroom/living room/family room). Guess we are buying him a bookshelf for his bedroom. |
