You're a good man. But Really. Keep him away from Liefeld comics. First weekend with us. He likes the books in my youngest daughter's collection. Today he read 2 trades of Teen Titans & started Ultimate Fantastic Four. He loves reading. He couldn't believe all the books we have. We have 6 books shelves scattered thru the house (one in each bedroom/living room/family room). Guess we are buying him a bookshelf for his bedroom. Excellent stuff, Michael! Seems like a match made in heaven. Here's hoping you guys'll forge a family bond that will last a lifetime. If it isn't too personal, can you tell a bit about the circumstances under which he's found himself looking for a foster home?

I was in a memorabilia store for geeky stuff, action figures, posters, t-shirts, and the like. They also had a couple of shelves full of comic books. So I couldn't resist grabbing a handful of old X-Men issues in the Dutch translation. 11 issues for 22 euros is what I call a bargain.

Sorry I can't divulge any details about why he is in foster care.

It was tough taking him back to his residential home this weekend until next week. The plan is for him to be with us permanently mid June. I put a bookcase in his bedroom. I went over to my parents to help them clean out their attic & brought over all my old Hardy Boys books (60 of them) & put them on two of the shelves. Even if he doesn't like them at least the book case doesn't look too empty.

So, as some of you might know, I work as a gigging musician for a living, but I also get paid to run open mic nights in pubs, whereby any local musician can come along, get up and sing a few songs. Anyway, yesterday I had a phone call from TV's "The Voice" program to let me know that they will be coming down to my open mic in a couple of weeks, scouting for people to invite to audition for the show. Needless to say, since I announced it on Facebook, I've had a steady stream of e-mails from people wanting to sign up for it.
To be honest, I'm not really a fan of TV talent shows like The Voice, but the attendant publicity that hosting this scouting evening will generate for my open mic, plus how good being associated with the program will look on my gigging CV, convinced me that, for me, their involvement was a win-win situation.

No, the Voice representatives who are coming down will be filming the open mic, but only for their own use, not for broadcast. This is just to find people that they like enough to invite to attend one of the program's own auditions.

2017 continues to be a year of change for my family. In May my 22 yr old daughter graduates college & in Aug my 25 yr old daughter gets married. My oldest daughter works in foster care/adoption & has convinced us we are not ready to be empty nesters (& we aren't!). So we are in the process of adopting a 13 yr old boy. We get a son that LOVES comic books. And we hope to give him a stable home so that he can feel loved & safe. We hope things go smoothly so the process goes quickly. Congrats Michael James ! That is wonderful news for everyone ! My girlfriend is a director for Lutheran Social Services helping and defending children. She oversees 4 offices and a staff of 90+. That and agreement on politics got us introduced to each other and its only gotten better from there. Yes, adopting a 13 year old is wonderful Michael James. I'm so happy for your family and especially the boy knowing he's getting a solid home with good people.

Just ordered this... And this... For the Grand-kidlets third birthday. It'll be a pain in the tail, but you'd better assemble that Lego kit to make sure all the pieces are there. Don't want the kids to be disapppointed.

This might just be pride talking, Lego being Danish and all that, but having myself had a bunch of sets over the years and having bought a whole lot more for younger siblings, cousins and nephews I have yet to notice any real problems with missing pieces. Espescially not with Dublo since they are so big. Have you experienced problems with it Prince Hal?

Lego is always a nice gift, I have fond memories of building with them as a child, even though I was never as fanatic about it as my older cousin, who owned a large barrel of Legos. For my niece's birthday, I got her this mid-size Lego beach house.
My other older cousin was really into Lego Technic. He would always be assembling these Lego Technic sports cars, looked real good.
