Within the last few months I've watched the first ten episodes of Beast King GoLion which some Americans might recognize as Voltron: Defender of the Universe. I have to admit I much prefer this subtitled version to the American release. While it's mostly repackaged footage there are some interesting and significant differences. Sadly I was unable to get back into the American version because I found some of the characters to actually be annoying. Specifically Pidge and Hunk whose character depiction suffer compared to their Japanese counterparts. I will concede that the American Voltron had the far better opening sequence which featured the voice of Peter Cullen who also played Optimus Prime in the G1 Transformers series. I got about 15 minutes into the special Voltron: Fleet of Doom which united the Lion Force Voltron with the Vehicle Force Voltron but felt it was so bad I ended up turning it off. No wonder it was never officially released in Japan. I did however find the final battle scene on youtube where both Voltrons fight Prince Lotor who is piloting a Robeast. That might be worth checking out for some fans. Vehicle Force Voltron itself is a repackaged version of the anime Armored Fleet Dairugger XV which I haven't yet watched in its original form but plan to check out. I've heard it compared to the Macross series most of which I haven't seen either. Although I have watched the M across Plus animated film and thought it was pretty high quality.

Started watching the second season of Attack on Titan this weekend. It pretty much starts out with all hell breaking loose and introduces a new type of Titan.
I've also been watching Lupin the Third Part IV which is pretty much the same as the earlier series I remember watching on Adult Swim back-in-the-day, which I think was part II.
Adult Swim also started reairing episodes of Outlaw Star which I only vaguely remember. I'm not a huge fan of the art style but it seems interesting enough. Anyone familiar with this series?

I can't stand Attack on Titan, it's like all the bad popular tropes mixed together. I recall thinking Outlaw Star was decent when I watched it WAY back when Adult Swin first aired it, but I don't recall the details.
I've liked the eps of Lupin I've watched, but I've only seen a few here and there, I never sat down and watched it in order.
I've been re-watching Rurouni Kenshin, which is fun... also just finished re-watching Black Lagoon with my daughter, that's a great one if you don't mind a bit too much violence.

I've been re-watching Rurouni Kenshin, which is fun. I've heard good things about the manga too but haven't check out either yet. also just finished re-watching Black Lagoon with my daughter, that's a great one if you don't mind a bit too much violence. I saw that one as well and do remember it being pretty violent.

Decided to catch up on some anime this weekend and ended up binge watching the first three episodes of One-Punch Man. I wasn't impressed by the 2015 FCBD issue of the manga but the anime is pretty enjoyable. It's basically a parody of the superhero and Seinen genres. I think the use of the humor works well and there's tons of over-the-top action scenes.

Started rewatching Samurai Champloo for the first time in well over a decade. It holds up really well and I forgot how hip-hop influenced it was. Shame it's only a 26 episode run but still that's a nice chunk of binge watching.

Champloo is splendid fun. And i thought 26 episodes was just about right for the story. Kept the filler time down and kept the story advancing fairly quickly and the music helped it stay interesting and fresh. There are some anime that 52 episodes is too much with wasted episodes.

Just finished watching the season 1 finale of One-Punch Man and it definitely made my top 10 favorite anime list. I'm not sure where exactly it ranks but I'll have to dig out my old list and revise it. Anyone read the manga? Is it an ongoing that passes up the anime story? I would definitely be interesting is reading ahead. How close to the anime is it?
I finished season 2 of Attack on Titan earlier in the week without realizing it. I kind of sucks that there are only 12 episodes but they were all pretty high quality and the story arc this season is pretty chaotic.

I really enjoyed One Punch Man.. it had great moments of parody, but was serious enough to watch for the story, too. I read the 1st Manga volume, and it seemed similar enough to the show I didn't need to read more.
I also watched the first season of Magi.. which was really good.. I felt like it could easily be taking place in Xerxes in the FMA universe.. the style was SO similar.

Grocery shopping at Wal-Mart last night and they had an end cap in the DVD section with Anime! Several I already had but for $14.99 each I bought Gargantia, Blood Lad and K. My personal choice is when you find ANY anime for $20 or less buy it up ASAP. If i don't like it then i can always give as a gift or trade in later. With the high cost of most anime anytime there are DVD's for $20 and less that I consider a steal and must buy product to enjoy. All 3 looked interesting and cover different styles and types of stories. Looked them up on Wiki once I came in to work and read the quick write up of what each was about and looking like I made some nice grabs. In Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet there is Mecha/Science Fiction/Humanity. Blood Lad a vampire story of a high school girl who wanders through a portal into a Demon World and dies becoming a ghost and a vampire "Boss" called STaz vows to return her back to life. K or Project K as it is called sometimes is about a high school boy Yashiro who is "ordinary" but turns out to have "amnesia" caused by a "Cat" he owns which is actually a creature called a Strain who altered his memories. There are 7 clans/mafia each color based with powers struggling for control and Yashiro may have killed a prominent clan member and the clans are all out to kill Yashiro. Got me some wonderful anime to watch it looks like

I watched the first episode of My Hero Academia and liked it. It does a pretty good job with set up and world building for a pilot and seems like it will have a good bit of rewatchabilty. Looking forward to more of the characters with interesting quirks like the one superhero looked like a super sentai ranger with Groot powers.
I also started watched another anime series on Adult Swim On Demand called Dimension W. The premise, world building and technology are all interesting but I'm not sure I'm really feeling it quite yet.
There's an anime series I watched within the last couple of years and enjoyed but can't remember the name of. The premise is that a sort of would-be mad scientist and his friends develop a method of time travel involving putting a cellphone in a microwave. There's some kind of mysterious organization in the background but I don't remember much else. Does that sounds familiar to anyone?

Got me some wonderful anime to watch it looks like Watched Blood Lad and K over the holiday weekend. Blood Lad was rather typical/routine anime with some nice touches throughout. Had too many secondary/useless characters providing little to the story and it did feel dragged out a bit which may explain why there was only the one season of episodes. An actual ending would have been nice but oh well. It felt odd that almost every character introduced had a connection to one another or someone though. Action sequences were fun and great animation. K was absolutely beautiful with a somewhat interesting story-line. The series suffered from moving much too slowly and it seemed every time the fights started to become interesting then they were suddenly cut short. A quicker pace might have helped but the series was quite interesting and I felt it ended rather abruptly. This one could carry one with OVA's and still provide some more entertainment...

I can't say I'm impressed by the first episode of Black Clover as it aired on Toonami tonight. The ending was kind of interesting though. I'll probably watch a couple episodes at least before I decide whether or not to stick with it. Has anyone else watched it and does it get better? Dragon Ball Super. It's bad. I've been watching it as it airs on Cartoon Network. I thought the first story arc was okay because it lacked the drawn out storytelling that makes many of its story arcs monotonous. I didn't really care for the second story arc with the martial arts tournament until the Goku vs the Assassin Hit which was a little better. I think the power upgrade hair color change thing is pretty unimaginative but then I was never a big fan of this series to begin with.

The arc right after the on you're watching is probably the worst of the series so far, and just gets ridiculously stupid. You can tell there is a completely different team working on this new series than who was involved in the 80's and 90's. Also doesn't help that the original author is just there as a consultant instead of the show runners directly following a publication that he is making himself. Big difference. Not that Toriyama's ideas didn't have their faults themselves. Really, this franchise should have been over with a long time ago.
