This past weekend I went to a small downtown popcorn novelty shop and they had a small selection of comics in a spinner rack. Most of the stuff were Walking Dead and a few of the newer recent Uncanny X Men and Rebirth Batman 69 and 70.
I bought Walking Dead issues 187 and 188 to slowly catch up. I still need to get issue 170 to 176

Just got an Amazon order with the following:
Usagi Yojimbo Saga Edition Vol. 3 and 4 Saga Vol. 8 Spidey: Freshman Year-collecting the 12 issue Spidey series from Marvel from 2015 that is geared towards new/younger readers telling stories about Peter in high school but in a more contemporary setting than the 60s. It cam recommended to me from someone outside the list and I checked out the first issue on Unlimited and really enjoyed it. Its the first newish Spider-Man boo I've read in about 10 years, and the first I have enjoyed in about 15.

As I posted over in Classic section, I picked up a few things at Zagreb's annual comics show this past weekend, among them: I like what I've seen of Jill Thompson's work, so I figured I'd pick this up. This is some kind of YA book, I guess; mainly I picked it up because it didn't cost too much, and I bought it directly from the artist, Kalajzic, who was tabling at the show (I also know him, nice guy). And speaking of Croatian artists: This is kind of a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Goran Parlov, back when he was doing the art for Mark Millar's Starlight. The various artists involved each drew an episode, and it's all scripted by Kresimir Biuk. I was the happiest with this purchase, because I was able to get all but two of the contributors (Camagajevac and Sudzuka) to sign it for me.

While at HPB today, I picked up a copy of Scott McCloud's the Scluptor and Wilfred Santiago's "21" The Story of Roberto Clemente. I also got the first Road to Perdition GN (I had gotten the second recently at a baragain price) but it now qualifies as a classic I guess, as it's from 2002.

The newest comic I've bought in awhile... A VIDA E OS AMORES DE EDGAR ALLAN POE (Biography) cover by EDUARDO SCHLOESSER
(Clepsidra / Brazil / November 2018) This is a large, heavy hardbound (honestly, you could hurt somebody with it-- heh). It's a comic-book biography of Poe. There's been a number of these over the decades, but this has to be the biggest. It's written by longtime comics writer, novelist and movie screenwriter Rubens Francisco Lucchetti and illustrated with LAVISH graytones by Eduardo Schoesser. It's Eduardo I owe the greatest thanks to, as he went to extreme lengths to sell me this book and ship it my way (see, stores in Brazil DO NOT like dealing with customers in the USA). He even did a custom sketch of Poe for me on the inside. The crazy thing is, I can't read Portuguese, but despite that, I knew this was something I had to have. I've been a fan of Lucchetti for around 4 years now --mostly for his work in comics from decades past, but also for a horror movie he wrote, " O SEGREDO DA MUMIA" in 1983, which is just an insanely-fun mash-up of horror, sex and comedy. (I gotta get my hands on a DVD of that.)

I picked up the deluxe hardcover collecting Brubaker & Phillips Kill or Be Killed this afternoon during my monthly trip to the lcs. I had picked up the first couple of issues when it started, but took a hiatus from new comics for several months around that time and never got around to catching up with the series or picking up the trades, so when I saw the all-in-one deluxe hardcover, I snagged it. Have to make some time to dive into this one, as it's one of two Bru-Phillips series I haven't read all of yet (Incognito is the other). -M

I had ordered these from Midtown Comics on Black Friday and they finally made it: Return to Perdition is one of the few Vertigo Crime books I still needed and I had picked up the first 2 issues of the Spider series many years ago but 3 never came out. I recently found out that the unpublished #3 is in this trade. I started a slow reread of some of the Moonstone Kolchak comics and didn't have this one yet, so I grabbed it as well.

In addition to my regular pulls, I picked up these two volumes while at my lcs today... The first Kabuki omnibus. Mack;s Kabuki is a book that has been on my radar for a while, but I have never given it a try. I've liked other stuff he's done-my first exposure was the stuff he did early on in the Marvek Knights Daredevil series. And, you can never have enough Jodo in your library, especially when Ladronn is doing the art... -M

My copy of Touching Evil Vol. 2 The Phantom Limb by Dan Dougherty arrived this afternoon fulfilling another successful Kickstarter I backed. Now I need to go back and reread Vol. 1 as well. It is a fantastic supernatural thriller/crime drama. -M
