Anyone see it yet? I thought it was really good and it made up for my disappointment with The Force Awakens last season. After I left the theater last night I immediately wanted to rewatch A New Hope.

For those of you who have seen it, does {Spoiler: Click to show} the CGI Peter Cushing look as bad as I've heard?

I didn't mind, even though I knew about it going in. This was sort of like the reverse of Force Awakens. That started great but had a weak second half. Rogue One starts off slow and kind of choppy but picks up and gets better and better as it goes along. It's also easily the darkest Star Wars movie to date. The Empire, the Death Star, and even Darth Vader are much more frightening than they ever were in the orginal trilogy, and some of the action scenes seem like they could have been taken from a gritty 'war is hell' movie rather than the fun popcorn action of A New Hope.

I totally agree with sunofdarkchild's comments and I did not care for it at all - it's has it's moments and it's was too dark and I just find it not my cup of tea and I also had the urgency to leave the theater like PapaShogun wanted to do in the first place.
This is easily my worst Star Wars Movie to date. I just find it to dreary to watch and it was too moody and it's has a tone of hopelessness that I did not care for.
Having seeing it today - that's the last time that I ever see it again. It was that bad of a movie.

Agreed that the 3rd act was great. Even jaw dropping at times. The rest of the movie felt like a slog to get through. I found the characters lackluster in every way. I kinda liked Chirrut but that's mainly because I'm a big Donnie Yen fan. Basically, the best moments were the fan service moments (basically the same case with The Force Awakens). Which I was hoping they would avoid. All in all...I'm already feeling the Star Wars fatigue. I can already see Disney milking this franchise for everything it's worth and putting out a new Star Wars annually for the next 5+ years.

I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I need to watch it again before I can decide where to fit into my personal ranking of the Star Wars films.

For those of you who have seen it, does {Spoiler: Click to show} the CGI Peter Cushing look as bad as I've heard? He took me completely out of the film and I never quite made it back in. Honestly I thought it was a pretty awful movie. I just sat there rolling my eyes throughout the film. So many plot-holes and writing problems.

I actually don't get the complaint of plot holes in a Star Wars movie. Literally every movie in the franchise, even A New Hope and Empire, are filled with massive plot holes and make no sense if you stop to think about them. If judged solely in terms of avoiding major plot holes and stupid dialogue Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie to date. I still think Empire and A New Hope are better overall, but they have far worse plot holes and a ton of ridiculous dialogue compared to Rogue One.

But in those films I was able to turn my brain off and just go with the flow. In Rogue One I couldn't. I noticed every single plot hole...and there were so many it was ridiculous.

For those of you who have seen it, does {Spoiler: Click to show} the CGI Peter Cushing look as bad as I've heard? Actually I didn't mind much at all personally. Especially the first half of his scenes. The second half seemed much more objectionable but I was still ok with it. It was the other later similarly handled character bit that near ruined an otherwise pretty great, enjoyable and effects wise, quite impressive movie. It was doubly offensive and annoying because it could've been avoided by going more tasteful and artistic manner and just as impactful if not more so.

The original had Leia knowingly leading the Empire straight to the Rebel base and the Empire forgetting that the Death Star can destroy planets in the first place during the climax. Major plot points in Empire involved violating the established in-universe rules of physics and space travel to a ridiculous degree, to say nothing of all the small plot holes. Jedi is a huge mess from beginning to end.
The original trilogy can get away with more and bigger plot holes because their focus is more on the fun of the story and they have better characters, but all the plot holes I noticed in Rogue One seemed really minor to me.
One thing I'll say, the parts with the extremist rebel were not good at all, The moment that subplot ended was the moment the movie took off, sort of like how the moment Kylo Ren took off his mask was the moment Force Awakens started to lose it. Another problem was that the music just isn't anywhere near as good as John Williams' material
This was the first time I ever found the Empire intimidating.
The action was brutal and intense, which was great.
I legitimately did not know what was going to happen to the characters, which is something none of the other movies could say.

Disney better have paid his estate well for how much they used him.

My take on it: - Solid B
- Slog of a first half, but kickass climax and ballsy ending
- Bland as hell lead, but amazing supporting cast
- Great dogfights in space
- Horrible CGI human characters
