I love the Calendar Man. I have the 1960s reprint comic Batman #176, which features his first appearance (from the late 1950s) and I love it! I pull that comic out and read it several times a year, and the first Calendar Man story is right up there with "The Joker's Utility Belt" and "The Parasols of Plunder!" among the best stories in the comic. (Not to mention the wonderful story about "The Terrible Trio!" I love that!)
This is the first I ever heard of Calendar Girl. I love, I love, I love my Calendar Girl.

That's why I loved about the Batman, The Animated Series cartoon so much because it is one of the best cartoon shows and they did a great job making it and that's why this show influenced me so much Hoosier that I just can't get enough of it. I have a dear friend that often let me borrow the DVD's of that show once in a while - pretty much once or twice a year for kicks and that alone helped me in creating this list. Regarding Calendar Man, I might give it a crack and I have a friend that might loan me some of his comics and he has Batman #176 in his collection and he has a reading copy that I could borrow too. I think he has Detective Comics #259 and I've might ask him if he can loan it to me for a few days. I'm happy that you like Calendar Girl and thanks for your comments too!

I'm reading through my digital Golden Age Batman comics (I've got about seven issues between #14 and #35) and I'm currently on Batman #18. It's got a Dr. Thorne Crime Doctor story! It's been a while since I read it. I'll be getting to it soon. I don't remember it that well, but I DO remember that it's pretty good!
I think it's the last appearance of the Golden Age Doc Thorne because he dies. (Unless I'm getting it mixed up with something else.)

I don't think Matthew was mentioned as Crime Doctor though. I could also be mixing up the events of Robin's Reckoning with the Stromwell crime family.

Batman TAS ... What's is TAS stands for. I never heard of this at all? Thanks, Adam!

As Matthew goes, I though I remember in Batman The Animated Series (Batman TAS) Rupert mentioning his brother. Or his brother actually being in the episode, be it a big role or cameo role, but no mention of him being the Crime Doctor. Just that Rupert mentioned him by his birth name. Again I maybe remember what I mentioned about the Stromwell crime family. As the name Matthew Thorne sounds familiar to my ears, and I know I have never read a comic about the Crime Doctor, so I know my recollection (whether accurate or not) is not from the comics, but from The Animated Series.

I should had known that ...

Double the Trouble#39 A - The Monk, Niccolai TepesFirst Appearance - Detective Comics #31 #39 B - Dala, Dala VadimFirst Appearance - Detective Comics #32 Note to Members and Guests:The real fun begins tomorrow, but the cat is out of the Bag with a dose of double the fun that begins with the Villainous Duo of the Monk and his trusted ally - The Vampire Dala. Every time that I read a Monk Story ... Dala is mentioned every single time and I thought it would be appropriate thing to do is to keep these two together and start explaining tomorrow about them. I will be spending a day or two on these characters and some extra surprises along the way that you will find it quite interesting to read from me. I'll be done researching and trying to prepare an outline for the next few days with these two great characters that I find to be quite interesting for all of you here. The Monk and the Dala is next on my Agenda!

Detective #31 and #32 SummaryIn the best of my knowledge - I read these two books a little more than a year ago and I'm solely using my memory to recall these stories in the best of my ability. If I leave anything out that's important to you please accept my apologies. Here's the RundownBruce Wayne ... aka Batman was thinking of getting married and he found his true love to Julie Madison and they were an item together in the Gotham City circles and everyone is excited that millionaire playboy is settling down and accepting the fact that he and Julie are very much in love. Julie MadisonThen, the villain Monk starts to interfere this affair and since he a vampire lured Julie to trying to kill someone and Batman stops her and all this excitement going on Batman having his set of problem dealing with a foe with supernatural powers that's seems difficult for the Caped Crusader to stop. So, in due time ... Batman uses his Batgyro to locate and meet the Monk in hoping to stop him but he has another problem - Dala came into play and she is Monk chief assistant and she also a vampire too. Hench, Double the Trouble ensured the Batman and he was trapped by the Monk using an Ape to stop him cold. He uses his Batarang for the first time to break the chandelier's glass and trying to find Julie that Dala is using her as bait. In Detective Comics #31 marked the first time that the Batarang is being use and this is a very significant issue because it's expanded Batman's horizons and this marked the first time that uses gadgets to assist him in defeating evil. BatarangAnd, the first appearance of the Batgyro as well. Or, his first Airplane if you want to put that into perspective too. BatgyroCrossing over to Detective Comics #32 after a brief visit in Paris ... I've believe he rescued Julie and following her to Transylvania he meets Dala again and having a round of trouble with her and getting trapped again in a pit (I believe) he battled the Monk that transform himself into a wolf and used his trusty Batarang to get out of trouble and taking the silver candlesticks and melt them down into Silver Bullets and killing them with it. He (Batman) successfully stopped two threats and saving Julie Madison's lives and that's how #32 ended and that's not the end of the Monk who fought him again later on with different sets of results. This is the best that I could do and I decided to move onto Number 38 and this is a difficult one to write up. I will think about this character for a day or two and I hope to have it ready late Monday Night.

I love that story of the Monk and Dala in Detective #31 and #32! (And the version by Matt Wagner is pretty good too. Shoot, a later version was one of the first stories I read when I started reading Batman and Detective regularly (after years of picking them up from time to time) about 1980. It went on for a while in Batman from around #350 and in Detective from about ... #515, I think.)
But I love the first version in Detective #31 and #32 the best. If I ever make a Top Ten Batman Story list, the original Monk two-parter will certainly be a contender.

#38, Cypher, Avery TwombeyFirst Appearance: Detective Comics #657 He was a master corporate spy that was sent to control three CEO's and make them to commit suicide after been awarded a very juicy government top weapon project. His last target was Lucius Fox and he failed being taken by Batman, Robin, and Azrael after that he was sent to Blackgate Penitentiary. The Weapon Project was Top Secret for all three companies to work on; why he so deadly because he uses his knowledge of Hypnotism to force people to commit suicide and gain control over them so that he can use it for his own evil gain. He was also was hired to assassinate them by an unknown party that I do not know who it was at that time. That's why I select him on this countdown because he was very efficient in doing so. His voice was almost mesmerizing that puts you into a trance-like state that makes you to do his own bidding and that's alone makes him very deadly indeed. He prefers to do in a place that's only you and him alone so that he can make him do whatever he wants you to do. From WikipediaAs a professional corporate spy and mercenary, Cypher has the ability to hypnotize his victims into obeying his every command using his precise voice, an ability he often uses to force them to suicide. His voice can also be used to put his victims to sleep. From MeHe and along with three other villains that I don't know much about ... they are Baffler, Electrocutioner, and Cluemaster were sent to Blackgate Penitentiary he was killed by Cluemaster because they knew that they wore earplugs in his failed attempt to escape. He was gunned down by Cluemaster in a very brutal fashion. CluemasterFrom now on, things should be easier for me to share and I'm moving on to Number 37 possibly in a day or two and my countdown will be more in-depth and understandable to all of you here. Number 37 is next.
