It's another new week, so you know what that means , right? "We try an..." No Pinky that's not what it means, it means the newest books discussed and reviewed by you, yes you there!, the actual average comic book reader not some corporate shill! Written by Phil Jimenez. Art by Phil Jimenez and Matt Santorelli plus Jack Herbert. Cover by Ivan Reis. Ugh. Just a bloated confusing mess. And the story doesn't conclude until next issue. Even Jimenez' art can't save this story. It's a shame. This series started with so much potential. I predict it will be canceled by #12. Each issue gets worse. Score: 2/10.

Written by Dan Abnett. Art and Cover by Lee Weeks. Wow! What an awesome issue! The Titans set up their new HQ - Titans Tower - in Manhattan. They run into Superman who recognizes Wally. So many great moments. Abnett does an excellent job giving each member a vital part. He fleshes out their own unique character traits while doing this. He also sets up future stories like Donna figuring out her past (I have lost count on how many times that has been done). And by showing that Superman & Wally are from a different universe opens up some great interactions. Weeks turns in amazing art work. It is old school but yet modern. Perfect for this done in one. This was one of my favorites this week. Score: 9/10.

Written by Nick Spencer. Art by Javier Pina. Cover by Jesus Saiz. With last issue this whole Hydra Cap story line went off the rails. This issue continues in that direction. It's all over the place with flashbacks to Cap's revised hx in 1940 to Maria Hill's trial to Cap's team up with Union Jack in modern times. And no answers are provided. I was one of those fans that wasn't upset with Cap as Hydra because I felt Cap's true self would emerge & show his strong will power. But as this story drags on I have found I don't really care anymore. I guess I will try this title again when Steve returns to normal... Score: 3/10.

Written by Tom DeFalco. Art and Cover by Sandy Jarrell. Ahhh! This felt like summer in the middle of winter. Great issue. Reggie's dog Vader continues to tell the backstory of how Archie & Reggie stopped being friends. It is beautifully done. It makes sense why Reggie turned out to be a jerk. Meanwhile the story continues as Midge sticks up for Reggie & Moose becomes Reggie's friend. Jarrell's art sells the whole story told by DeFalco. His renderings of the little Archie gang is on point. We also get a reprint from Reggie's very first issue from 1949. This miniseries has to be made into an ongoing. It is well done. I want to read more! Score: 10/10.

Written by Joshua Williamson. Art and Cover by Carmine Di Giandomenico. This was the story that should have been Flash Rebirth #1! Yes! The return of the Rogues. After the lackluster first arc this title has vastly improved. Williamson captures the weird respect the Flash & the Rogues share for each other. The Flash, Batman & Spider-Man have the best villains in comics. I am glad to seem them used. Yes this issue is setup for this arc but I felt happy reading this issue. As I have said in past reviews Carmine is perfect on this title as his art conveys the kinetic nature of Flash's powers. Score: 8/10.

Written by Charles Soule. Art by Goran Sudzuka. Cover by Dan Panosian. The aftermath of Dark Arts. DD devises a plan to heal Blindspot after Muse's horrific mutilation last issue. It's a bit convoluted but the end result brings back a classic DD villain. Blindspot had his eyes gouged out by Muse. DD gets a bounty put on him to get Bullseye looking for him. Somehow Bullseye holds the answers to heal Blindspot Score: 7/10.

Written by Gerry Conway. Art and Cover by Ryan Stegman. Peter & MJ are held captive by the Mole Man. Annie displays a new power. A variant of spider sense. She has visions of her parents in danger. The whole family fights against the Mole Man & his army. Conway & Stegman continue to tell a compelling tale of a married Peter with a child. And I LOVE it! Marvel should do more stuff like this to keep their long time readers around instead of Hydra Cap & Doom Iron Man. Score: 8/10.

Written by Ryan North. Art and Cover by Derek Charm. Reggie beats Jughead at a video game & becomes King of Riverdale for a day. By the end of the issue Jughead raises the stakes so that Reggie is King...for a month! Another issue this week that has Reggie as star. He is the perfect foil for Jughead. This was just another fun issue that showcased Reggie & yet gave time to the other supporting members of Archie Comics like Dilton. The New Riverdale titles continue to impress month after month. Score: 9/10.

Best of the Week.Written by Greg Rucka. Art and Cover by Nicola Scott. The conclusion of Year One. Diana confronts Ares. And wins. Month after month this arc has been stellar. And Rucka along with Scott's beautiful art nails the conclusion. I don't know what more to say. If you aren't reading this then buy the trade when it comes out. In a week where there were many outstanding books (& a few stinkers) this book stands out. Just. Perfect.
Score: 100/100!

Supergirl #5: Zor-El and his army of reanimated citizens of Argo City invade National City. Jeremiah Danvers battles Supergirl's natural father while Agent Chase scrambles to save the city. Lots of father/daughter tension as Supergirl seems to be accepting Earth as her home. The story was good. It held my interest cover to cover and it was nice to see Supergirl being heroic. As usual the art is not up to par with the story. Cartoony anatomy, panels that look half finished, and inconsistent art from panel to panel is killing this book for me. There are a few splash pages that are nice. The artist must have spent his time on those few pages while the other pages are more like something from a junior high student's doodle pad. Story: 8/10 Art: 1/10

Action 971: I don't want to give much away, but Action continues Superman's winning streak. The cover reminded me of the Silver Age--like a cover one might see on an Action Comics cover from 1969. This issue provides a look at the Superman/Luthor relationship and Superman's own ethics. Lois and Jon appear as well in a very well written scene. The final page was a bit of a surprise and Lois will no doubt have to get creative to explain it to her very curious little boy. The art was great as well. 10/10
