The first official, actual, honest to god episode of the Classic Comics Forum Podcast is now available online! Here's the main site for the podcast: classiccomics.podbean.com/And here's the first episode: classiccomics.podbean.com/e/classic-comics-forum-podcast-1-life-with-archie-the-married-life-part-1/In this first official episode, I'm joined by none other than our own fearless leader, shaxper! The episode starts with the origin story of our forums here, followed by a discussion about shaxper's tastes as a comic book fan, and then the first part in an epic two-part breakdown of the instant classic, seminal series Life with Archie: The Married Life. Thanks again shaxper for joining me in this crazy endeavor. The podcast still isn't up on places like iTunes, however you can access it on many podcasting apps (I used Podcast Addict) by manually entering the RSS feed: classiccomics.podbean.com/feed/The apps may not be able to find the podcast through a simple search, but after entering the RSS feed, I was able to download the episodes so I could listen to them on the go. I hope to sooon have the podcast set up with the various major podcast outlets for easy use. Hope you enjoy!

I went to SoundCloud, typed "Classic Comics" in the search window, and this was the fourth thing to come up, right after the #0 podcast that Crimebuster did for Boy Comics. Downloaded it, and will be listening to it later today or tomorrow.

Wow! Great work, guys. Your knowledge and passion have always been evident in your posts/writing, but what a treat it is to actually hear both of you in action. And Scott, you sound like you've been interviewing people for years, you're so professional (but still passionate about the material).

Wow. You edited me into a rational and clear-speaking person, even clearing up my Percival Popp error. Thanks for making me look good! Editing you was easy, I hardly did anything! Editing myself took a lot more time, with all the ums and awkward silences as I tried to remember how human communication worked.

I actually think I'm a terrible interviewer, but I do have some experience doing it professionally. My first ever interview - one on one, in person no less - was with Nicole Kidman. After that experience, where I nearly shit my pants, I guess talking to internet buddies about comics is a lot less stressful

Great job. The sound quality was fine, both for CB and Shax. I just use the link you provide for soundcloud to listen on my laptop
A bit strange that you chose a more modern comic series for your subject so soon. But that's your prerogative.

Listened to the first half on my way to a Magic: The Gathering tournament, the second on the way home.
All I can say is that you guys did a really good job, because I was interested the entire time, and I'm a guy who's never read, nor had the interest in reading, an Archie comic in my life. Kudos to you both.
Looking forward to the next one!

A bit strange that you chose a more modern comic series for your subject so soon. But that's your prerogative. Yeah, we were both well aware of the irony of kicking off the classic comics forum podcast with a comic that doesn't actually meet the forum's criteria for a classic comic. In the future, I'll definitely be trying to make sure we discuss older comics on the podcast with whoever my guest happens to be. My main focus is making sure we were discussing a comic that both of us have read and have strong feelings about one way or the other, which in this case happened to be Life with Archie. but next time shax is on, whenever that might be, we'll definitely be talking about something older, whether it's Atari Force, Usagi Yojimbo, Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, or something else. And I'm going to try to identify other classic titles our fellow members here have particular interests in that I might be able to discuss with them in at least a semi-intelligent fashion.

In both universes, Reggie either gets together with whoever didn't marry Archie... As Crimebuster noted, it makes sense in the case of Veronica whom Reggie pursued all his life, but not in the case of Betty whom he dated only occasionally over the past decades.
Personally, I really expected Jughead to end up with Betty, as I mentioned on the Riverdale thread. Both have had a connection since at least the '70s, usually because they're Archie's best friends, but on occasion because they're both pretty mature.
Regarding the death of Miss Grundy: it was indeed a very well-written arc... but I was a little annoyed that it apparently appeared in only one of the two universes. Not because I wish ill on Geraldine, but because I really don't see how Archie marrying either Betty or Veronica could cause Miss Grundy to develop cancer or not. The essential "What if..?" proposal flies out the window on this score.
Gentlemen, it was a pleasure to hear your informed and intelligent comments. Crimebuster, I hope your podcast will go on forever!!! My hat's off to you! What a great complement to the CCF.

The essential "What if..?" proposal flies out the window on this score. . I guess I just accepted the two realities as alternate -- not hinging solely upon whether Archie married Betty or Veronica, but just alternate. Archie's marriage decision didn't cause Moose's two different fates in the two different realities either. Plus you've got Fred Mirth appearing in only one timeline and Ambrose only appearing in the other. Who Archie married was the defining difference for the reader, but not for reality itself.
