The Doctor Who universe, the Bronze Age Marvel Universe, or pre-Crisis Earth Two.

Lots to choose from. Very hard to narrow it down to just three, but...
1) The Star Wars universe 2) Middle-earth 3) The Marvel Universe

Toho Studios Universe: Come on, giant monsters, Ultraman, hidden empires (space, under the earth, under the ocean), spaceships and all of the guaranteed construction jobs forever! No lack of employment here! Good thinking and I wished that I thought of that in the first place!

Iain M. Banks's Culture might be the best bet, as far as somewhere to actually live. As long as you don't work for Special Services, their agents get in some pretty horrendous situations.

That was going to be my vote! Probably the most simultaneously luxurious and individualist-friendly utopia available ... and there still is real adventure around (in the Contact section even without getting into Special Services) for those who want it.

My top pick would be The Whoniverse... it has Daleks! A land where I could worship Princess Leia wouldn't be too far behind. While Tolkien's Middle Earth would be cool too, as long as I didn't have big hairy feet!

1. Hoppers/Palomar 2. Gotham City, the Animated Series (Just to live in a modern noir city) 3. Riverdale, circa 1973 (just for the awesome clothing alone)

Problem with being in a universe with Dalek's is that except for the Doctor, anybody and everybody else really doesn't fare to well when meeting. At least the Cyber-men convert you and take you into their society whereas Daleks simply EXTERMINATE you. Don't think i want to meet Dalek's. Hang out by the pool with the Silurian's, have a pub run with Sontaran's, work on your sun tan with the Ice Warrior's would all be cool, but Dalek's just aren't known to be the life of the party.

Sherlock Holmes's London and environs That was a close runner up for me. Though when I read the first book recently, A Study in Scarlet, it struck me how desolate Watson's life was - pensioned off from the army, not a lot of money - he had to find a room-mate to afford an apartment - no friends, no relatives ... he was a lost soul in the great city of London, and the implication was that he wasn't the only one. Kind of the opposite of the cosy Victorian world I remembered from my childhood reading.

People always get the wrong idea about the Daleks, I think, because they only ever see the mindless military drones doing their conquer and destroy bit. I don't think you can really judge an entire society by the actions of a few million individuals. There are probably any number of more moderate Daleks on Skaro, trying their best to just get along. I saw one once, working at the Museum of the Moving Image in London. He wasn't bothering anyone, and he was very good with kids.
