He appears to be a person that says what's on his mind and doesn't care how bad it sounds or if it offends other people. You have to decide if that makes him an @$$hole.

No, because many people will temper their responses as not to offend others, Or use diplomatic language to de-escalate a conflict. Byrne once said that any Puerto Rican women that dyed their hair blonde looked like prostitutes. C'mon man.

He said it in the past in response to Jessica Alba being cast as Sue Storm in the FF movies. It's okay if he thinks that but he should really keep it to himself.

Why would the color if your hair identify you more as a prostitute?

There's no reason that Sue needs to be blonde, or even Anglo, in a country as diverse as 21st century America. I suspect what Byrne was getting at is that casting Jessica Alba, but then having her dye her hair blonde, makes Sue Storm a bottle blonde, which changes her character just as much as if Reed Richards were the kind of guy who dyed his prematurely grey sideburns so that they were brown.

I don't feel I actually know John Byrne from his forum or comics. I think the fans he dislikes the most are the ones who project on to him or who look for something to be disagreeable about. Some people like to stir up things with somebody known at a distance to get attention. Maybe they need to recognize that they really don't and perhaps can't know the man?

Bottle blonde? A woman who dyes her hair blonde; her blonde hair thus derives from a bottle of chemicals. There's at least a perception that "gentlemen prefer blondes," so in fiction, the detail of fake blonde hair may be used as code for "boy crazy" or "insecure."* * I am not saying that any women who dye their hair blonde are boy crazy or insecure.

I still don't see how that turns you into a prostitute/sex worker.

Really hoping you aren't serious. That was you though I take it lecturing me about personal bias and not accepting science over those plastic pollution stats the alt-right agendists have been polluting the news with wherever they can? Can't imagine there's that many John Byrne comic readers in Macau. So eager to provoke and engage but then disappear. Then starting up stuff here about Spicer and other such stuff? www.byrnerobotics.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=52532&PN=1&TPN=17Strange, now you removed Macau from your profile here. Well somebody started something over there and I seem to get in trouble for responding to the provocations, so whoever that was... if they might be reading... the plastic byproduct in China from manufacturing stuff for our countries and for our companies then goes into the ocean because they don't have the regulations and protections we insist on here, so we get to blame China and pretend we are not the problem (and on top of that those with an agenda are using these half-truth stats to attack those protections here which if you think about is pretty disturbing), but no, let's blame China and environmentalists, real scientists, and science literate people! The third world countries we ship literal mountains of wastes to we also get to blame as bigger polluters even if we have forced our wastes on them and they are suffering shorter lives for it (Indonesia, Vietnam, The Philippines, Sri Lanca, and only a fool could think these countries are living large and producing their own massive tons of plastic wastes). Anybody who used a little bit of their mind to learn and think could understand rather than googling 'facts' they can't begin to understand apparently, or are just willfully obtuse, from slanted propaganda journals and news programs that manufacture bogus junk outrage over and over. And if there is anything else that needs explaining about this whole verboten at JBF alt-right championed pollution stats I'll be happy to explain for the hard of thinking who keep swallowing such obvious self-serving hypocritical junk 'news' from sources that should've gone out of business much quicker than they are (and they are). (edit to add my permission to remove anything political or this whole post if necessary, or leave it as what I said in a state of paranoia perhaps.)

I'm not a member of Byrne's message board.
