To be perfectly honest, I find a person that never married nor had any kids and died alone at age 90 to have lived a sad life. Having a child or committing to a marriage or both , are signs that your spirit can reach out and love another person in a way that shows maturity and marks you as part of the human race. I suspect his life of seclusion and devotion to the Randian theory were tied together. I suspect that there will be a few here that will put me on blast for having that opinion. That's my take on his strange life. I suspect that we all know and love people who never married, and there's no single reason why, so generalizations won't get us very far. My only regret in this department is that I wish there were more stories about married life, kids, etc in our popular media. It seems to me that there's a lot more interest in films and TV shows about chasing a romantic partner than about what to do with them when you catch them.

Idealized 'romcoms', or 'heavy drama' about dysfunctional marriages.

In the September 1983 Marvel comic books, John Byrne was asked by then Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter to do the Bullpen Bulletin for that month. Instead of a written work, he did an illustration. It was phenomenal.

And so, we missed out on JB wearing the cowboy hat(as worn by Shooter in one of his early 'Bulletins', and by 'Weezie'(Jones-Simonson) when she wrote a column.

Sounds like a good way to avoid trolls. I mean, can't you just ban people that get out of hand? Instead of demanding people use their personal information to join your online fan club? It's funny, because Byrne sounds like the maestro of some troll behavior on his own site. Based on some of the stories I heard.

I never witnessed any trolling from Byrne there.

OK, important message:
This thread is perilously close to getting locked.
Rule #2 of the Classic Comics Forum forum is: We ask that you not come here to badmouth other online communities or persons in other online communities. Inevitably, someone else here has a stake in the argument over there, and bad blood spills over.
So that means no criticisms of or accusations about Byrne himself, or the moderators or members of his forum. Sorry if that sounds draconian, but this is a fundamental rule of the CCF. When it comes to this thread, if you can't say something nice about Byrne and his forum, then don't say anything at all.
Thanks.

"So typical of Stratfordian forum moderators to resort to this technique..."
