Batman Episodes (101) … Third SeasonLouie the Lilac Original Air DatesOctober 26, 1967 Major VillainMilton Berle as Louie the Lilac BatsJust barely one Bat ... It was a really a dumb show and I totally forgot how dumb this show really is and I just can't believe that I just watched it. For the Record ... I'm going to resume this thread earlier around December 28th or so that I can get it done before February so that I can concertrate on my second Water Polo League that will be starting the 5th (of February) and I can managed that quite easily. Just a terrible episode. The "flower children" in U.S. culture was already out of fashion by the time this episode aired, and just made the showrunners seem like old people out of touch. Candidate for "Worst Batman TV Series Villain of All-Time"--AKA Milton Berle's Louie--was a friend of William Dozier, and had his own, failed variety show on ABC (during the 1966-67 season), hence his getting a role on Batman. There's no end to lows this series achieves by this point, and Batgirl's "aren't I snarky and cute" act can clearly be seen as a total failure to boost the ratings as intended.

tarkintino ... Your latest post on this thread ... I've totally agree with you 100% and I'm very puzzled why they made this show in the first place. Milton Berle as Louie the Lilac is my Number 1 at the least favorite villain on the Batman TV Show and Shane played by Cliff Robertson is a very close 2nd. I just can't stand neither one of them and sad to say this Louie make another appearance later in the 3rd Season.

Well, the Summer of Love was just a few months before, which would have spawned the idea, for broadcast in the upcoming season. Not exactly what I would call out of touch, so much as "not their generation." The hippie stereotype was used well into the early 70s; so, I'd hardly say Dozier and company were rehashing an old story. They just didn't have any real insight into that group to do effective satire. The Undergrounds were in the midst of it, which is why they were more effective at poking fun at it. By the time you are seeing hippies on Room 222 and the Partridge Family (and Brady Bunch) it was well past its "sell by" date.

Well, the Summer of Love was just a few months before, which would have spawned the idea, for broadcast in the upcoming season. Yeah, but right after the Summer of Love, the residents of Haight Ashbury conducted the "Death of the Hippies" Funeral" (October 6, 1967) which included all counterculture types, like flower children. If the actual counterculture already dumps a part of their scene, its pretty stale. Dozier was treating it like it was a new movement in that episode. Yeah, I recall shows like The Partridge Family, Room 222, I Dream of Jeannie and Dragnet 1969/1970 still having people running around with flowers, beads and Nehru jackets long after those fads passed, which probably explains why so many young people of the era...well, the truly in-the-know people, thought those shows were lame.

Batman Episodes (102,103) … Third SeasonThe Ogg and I How to Hatch a Dinosaur Original Air DatesNovember 2, 1967 November 9, 1967 Major VillainsVincent Price as Egghead and Anne Baxter as Olga, Queen of the Cossacks Guest CameoAlan J. Hale as Gilligan Review of Both ShowsIt's all started when Commissioner Gordon awaiting for his sandwich to arrive and it's finally arrived and looking forward eating a roast beef sandwich of which the delivery man ... gave him an egg sandwich instead and to his horror seeing Egghead standing next to him with Olga outside in a Balloon and kidnapped the Commissioner! Gordon, managed to communicate to his staff and O'Hara sees the note and Batgirl dropped in and things started downhill for GCPD and our beloved heroes. Later on, Egghead called the Commissioner's Office and demanded (Olga, and the Cossacks were dancing) and wants her to stop before placing that call. He told the Caped Crusaders that he wants a .10 cents tax on every egg eaten in Gotham City! ... In a few days it's would be millions! Then, later ... The Caped Crusaders and Batgirl decided to use their equipment and crime-fighting know-hows to track down an After-Shave known to us as Wellington #4 and Batgirl asked Alfred to assist her and both they managed to find where the Commissioner held at. In the meantime - Jumping ahead our heroes had a Bat-Fight and after that Bat-Fight ... Olga, wants to marry both Batman and Egghead and the reason for that is that Olga wants to marry both of them using the customs of Bessarovian can marry up to Six Husbands! Then, a Bat-Fight occurred her and the Bad Guys made a hasty retreat thanks to Egghead's Eggs that being fed by healthy diet of onions and that made Batman, Robin, and Batgirl eyes watered and they managed to save Commissioner Gordon and that the end of the first show. Then, in the 2nd Show ... Barbara Gordon was delivering a book to Professor Dactyl and having said that seeing a large egg in the museum ... So, with both Egg and Radium being stolen by Egghead and Olga ... our heroes are thinking that the Egghead is planning to hatch this Egg so that a Neosaurus can devour our Heroes for once and all and at the same time eat Gordon and O'Hara for dessert! How our Heroes find this out ... Simple Batman thinks an article in the Southeastern Journal of Applied Radiology might be of help, and Barbara separately thinks the same thing. Unfortunately, the library no longer subscribes, but Bruce Wayne does. Barbara calls Alfred at the same time that Batman calls his butler upstairs, and he provides the article’s title to them both: “Revitalizing Fossil Forms by the Use of High-Energy Radioactive Energy Sources.” ... This is the Plan that Egghead was thinking of using the Radium that he stole earlier. With both Batgirl and Robin captured then ... and Robin defended Batman for not being here ... A Hungry Neosaurus Appeared! Batman was inside that Egg and wearing that Costume and use Peanut Butter and other things to make our Villains to believe that a real live walking Lizard appeared before their very eyes and screamed as they run into the welcoming GCPD and into the Truck wanting to go back to Jail! Batman wanted to find out who is Batgirl is with Robin ... but wearing that Lizard's Costume was out of the question! Bit of Trivia ... The Neosaurus Costume was borrowed from the Lost in Space prop department, where it had been used in the episodes “The Questing Beast” and “Space Beauty.” according to the Internet. BatsI've didn't care for these two shows despite some good moments and all that.

Batman Episodes (104) … Third SeasonSurf's Up! Joker's Under! Original Air DatesNovember 16, 1967 Major VillainCesar Romero as The Joker Guest StarsSivi Aberg as Undine Johnny Green with the Green Men Ronny Cox as Skip Parker Skip Ward as Riptide Review of the ShowThe World's Championship of Surfing is up to grabs and Skip Parker is favored to win it; at first Barbara Gordon contacted her father that Skip Parker is kidnapped and he in turn called the Caped Crusaders that arrived at the beach via Batcopter. The Joker managed to tied up Skip to a Surfing Experience And Ability Transferometer, which will transfer all of Skip’s surfing knowledge to Joker so that he can win the contest! Sivi Aberg as Undine communicating to the Joker giving him updates and using devices that looks like Hot Dogs! While out in Pelican Cove, Batman and Robin spent some time there to do some observations and after that they came back to the Batcave to consult the Bat-Computer to determine where they learned that the Ten-Toe Surf Shop, which is long abandoned, as being Joker’s new hideout. The Joker was ready for them and both Riptide and Wipeout under Joker's orders to transform them into Human Surfboards! In the process of making them into Human Surfboards - the Dynamic Duo managed to escape and chase off both henchmen and found Skip Parker being robbed by the gizmo that the Joker hooked up him to remove all his ability to Surf! Yvonne Craig looks great in this Show! Then, Batman stayed at Pelican Cove and ordered Robin to go back and into his Dick Grayson so that he can act on Bruce Wayne's behalf who is the head of the surfing commission so that both Batman and the Joker can compete for the World's Surfing Championship! Here's the Clip! They surf and Batman wins on Points despite Joker finished first and Batman uses his Shark Repellent Bat Spray as a safety to ensure that he is safe. Both Chief and the Commissioner here ... looks really goofy in their Beach's Outfit and those awful Shades too! Johnny and the Green Men were great in this show! After the Surfing Competition is over, both Barbara Gordon and Dick Grayson raced to change their outfits to Batgirl and Robin so that they can assist Batman to put the end of the Joker's schemes and restore order! That's pretty much the whole show! BatsI thought it was a decent show and I was kind of disappointed in some aspects of it and this really wasted the talents of Cesar Romero and both Chief and the Commissioner were a major disappointment to me. Barbara and Undine were cute in their Bathing Suits and the music of the Johnny Green and the Green Men were good. I would had it 3 Bats if both Gordon and O'Hara were more useful. This is the best that I can do here.

@mechagodzilla Great reviews! As a kid I loved the third season of Batman. Now as an adult I realized it was because I had a crush on Yvonne Craig as Batgirl. She was definitely the best part of Season 3. All the 60's fads that showed up were too much. Some of the villains were too silly. And I really missed the two part episodes.

The next three shows are set in London, The Londinium Larcenies (105), The Foggiest Notion (106), The Bloody Tower (107), and these were totally different and has to be handle with care. The problem is that the Producers didn't merge the three shows together that good and it's going to be a challenge to get it done. It's going to take me several days to sort it out because these shows are totally different and has to be handled with care. I was thinking about this most of the day and it's will be a chore to get it all figured out. I'm thinking of making the three shows into a two-parter so that it's will be handled carefully. I hope to have it done in 5 days - give or take a day.

Batman Episodes (105,106,107) … Third SeasonThe Londinium Larcenies The Foggiest Notion The Bloody Tower Original Air DatesNovember 23, 1967 November 30, 1967 December 7, 1967 Major VillainsRudy Vallée as Lord Marmaduke Ffogg Glynis Johns as Lady Penelope Peasoup Lyn Peters as Lady Prudence Guest StarMaurice Dallimore as Superintendent Watson Guest CameoMadge Blake as Aunt Harriet (The Bloody Tower) All Three Shows in Review First of all, I've wanted to get this off my chest, according to sources that Lyn Peters as Lady Prudence is a villain in these three shows and not a henchmen at all. I considered her more than a moll for Ffogg and Peasoup. She was trying to kill Robin using a African Death Bee that looks so ridiculous it was laughable to look at. She does an admirable job as Lady Prudence! ... With Robin in these two pictures using her feminine charm to put him out of his misery! Back to the Show, first of all Chief O'Hara sends off Commissioner Gordon and Barbara Gordon on a ship that being sailed to London and there were a large crate being brought on Ship marked Bruce Wayne that the same size as a Batmobile so that he can use it for his adventures in London and Barbara asked Bruce about it and that's for Dick and his studies in London. In London, with Watson the head of Ireland Yard and Alfred is busy setting up the Batcave and hook up the Phone in Ireland Yard and all that and most of all ... Batman and Robin visited Superintendent Watson and Commissioner Gordon and Gordon presented them to Watson. They visited Ffogg Place's and the reason for this visit to get acquainted and compare aftergrass as well. Batman's close friend Bruce Wayne wants to find that out so that he can report back to Bruce. While there, four young girls briefly visit the Dynamic Duo and all of them are so hyped seeing the Boy Wonder seeing how groovy and handsome that he really is. Then at the end of this show a Bat Fight on a Country Road and then the men barely escaped and they planted a device inside the Batmobile to derail the Caped Crusaders when arriving at the London's Batcave. In the 2nd Show, this show was a major disappointment to me and that's bothers me a lot. Not enough Batgirl and the show taken a bad turn. It's has a good Bat Fight in the Tavern called the Three Bells and that's located on the ports of London and all that . They got that clue from a package that Barbara brought it in in the office of Watson. After that Bat Fight ... sorry to interrupt you, but Batman's got his Brain Erased and couldn't remember what happened to him and Alfred managed to restore it back to normal using an attache case ... Just read the attache case ... for the description of it! Then, quick recap ... of the ending! These four dastardly beauties and career criminals in the making carried off the Boy Wonder and being so gentlemen that he is that he wouldn't hurt a lady, even a bad one and Lady Peasoup admired his honesty and all that so that Lord Ffogg can quickly disposed him in the wench room in the Bridge near the Three Bells. In the 3rd and Final Show ... it's gets bad in the beginning of where everybody was scrambling around and Batman trying to locate Batgirl and discovered her in the Dungeon at Ffogg Place and using an Indian Rope Trick that he mastered to get both him and Batgirl out of there and proceed the next step of plans to stop Ffogg and his gang to steal the Crown Jewels! Rudy Vallée as Lord Marmaduke Ffogg and Glynis Johns as Lady Penelope Peasoup pictured here. While this going on ... at Watson's office Aunt Harriet showed up and wanting to know where Bruce and Dick are and they told her that Dick is studying elsewhere. Watson told her that they have various museums and it would be difficult to find them! Madge Blake final appearance on Batman ... she died 2 years later. Then the final scene of where Ffogg's men at the Tower of London of where a Beefeater guarding the Crown's Jewels and the Caped Crusader and later Batgirl stopped them cold and they don an outfit of a Beefeater and the rest is history. Lady Prudence told Robin that I'm a naughty girl and that's the last of the exchange on this show while Batgirl departs. BatsThey could had done a two parter with it.

Batman Episodes (108) … Third SeasonCatwoman's Dressed to Kill Original Air DatesDecember 14, 1967 Major VillainessEartha Kitt as Catwoman Guest StarsRudi Gernreich as himself Review of the ShowIt's all started when Catwoman showed up at the Best Dressed Award and Rudi created a new award for the best crimefighter award to Batgirl and she claimed that she is a mere third! So, what Catwoman did is to raise the limit of crime by using a hair-raising bomb on the ladies that went to that luncheon and Gordon and O'Hara raced to call on the service of our Dynamic Duo; who is out buying shirts for the prom that Dick is attending and a call came from Bruce's pen. Catwoman goal is quite simple is to steal the Golden Fleece, a dress made of 24-karat gold owned by Queen Bess of Belgravia, who is visiting Gotham City. Eartha Kitt as Catwoman Then, Catwoman sent a telegram to Commissioner Gordon and saying she plans to hit the annual fashion show at Fashionation Magazine’s showroom. He shares this information with Batman, who urges Commissioner Gordon not to tell Batgirl, as it might be a trap for the latter. However, her daughter Barbara is visiting him, who tells her, since she’s not Batgirl ... Ha Ha!!! She hit the Fashion Show and Batgirl showed up too and this was the trap that set for Batgirl so that she can enter the Model's Dressing Room of which it's clearly states no Man can't enter and this enables Catwoman to trap, capture and her intent to do away with Batgirl forever! Dynamic Duo with their eyes covered make their way in the Model's Dressing Room and having a difficult time walking through it. When Batgirl’s been in over a minute, Batman and Robin bite the bullet, cover their eyes, and enter. They stumble around the room for quite a while before the models take pity (with good intentions) on them and say they’re fully clothed and safe for them to use their eyes and that's made the Dynamic Duo in a difficult situation here. Exactly at 3 o'clock in the afternoon a dilemma save Batgirl or save the Golden Fleece? So, he enlisted the aid of Alfred to pose as the world's oldest hippie to save Batgirl at Pussyfoot Road and fortunately Batgirl couldn't recognized her aide in Crime Fighting at all. Catwoman wearing the Golden Fleece A dress made in pure GOLD! Then, Batman and Robin showed up to get a hold of the Golden Fleece and return to its rightful owner, Queen Bess and soon this happen, a mere seconds later Batgirl showed up to assist the Dynamic Duo and a great Bat Fight at the end and everything was restored order and justice. Then, at the end ... Commissioner Gordon was in the process of handing out awards to Chief O'Hara, Batman, Robin, and Batgirl ... and to himself for saving the Golden Fleece and all the sudden, Bonnie interrupted the short ceremony and informed that Egghead and Olga return to Gotham City to try wreck havoc in that fair city. BatsIt was Eartha Kitt's first appearance as Catwoman and did a respectful job as Catwoman. I'm a Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether fan and I have to say this that I had a hard time accepting the fact that Kitt became Catwoman because she was too short to play the part. Julie was 5'11, Lee was 5'9, and Kitt was 5'4. Julie was unable to play Catwoman because of her contractual duties in MacKenna's Gold that was released in 1969.

"Surf's Up! Joker's Under!" is one of my all time favorite episodes of the series. Just the sheer ridiculousness of Batman and The Joker wearing board shorts over their costumes alone is worth watching. Plus Yvonne Craig in a swimsuit doesn't hurt either!
@mechagodzilla thanks for continuing to review these episodes. I know you said you didn't really care for the third season but I've really enjoyed revisiting this series having rewatched it myself within the past year or so.

Batman Episodes (102,103) … Third SeasonThe Ogg and I How to Hatch a Dinosaur Original Air DatesNovember 2, 1967 November 9, 1967 Major VillainsVincent Price as Egghead and Anne Baxter as Olga, Queen of the Cossacks The terrible "dinosaur" costume was recycled (and repainted) from a then-recent episode (as of January, 1967) of Lost in Space titled "The Questing Beast." Anne Baxter returned for no good reason, creating a dreadfully stereotyped character--even for this series. Her performance really nosedives when one compares Olga to her previous role on the show--the sensitive Zelda the Great from season one. Batman Episodes (104) … Third SeasonSurf's Up! Joker's Under! Original Air DatesNovember 16, 1967 Surfing. Human surfboards. That is one of the biggest reasons why the 1966-68 Batman TV series earned the hatred of so many Batman comic fans while first run on ABC, in the decade to follow in syndication, and was written off as a joke by others reviewing general pop culture. Surfing, and a Joker so infantile and watered down, even the nerdy children from My Three Sons would have no trouble beating him into submission. Batman Episodes (105,106,107) … Third SeasonThe Londinium Larcenies The Foggiest Notion The Bloody Tower Original Air DatesNovember 23, 1967 November 30, 1967 December 7, 1967 Major VillainsRudy Vallée as Lord Marmaduke Ffogg Glynis Johns as Lady Penelope Peasoup Lyn Peters as Lady Prudence First of all, I've wanted to get this off my chest, according to sources that Lyn Peters as Lady Prudence is a villain in these three shows and not a henchmen at all. I considered her more than a moll for Ffogg and Peasoup. She was trying to kill Robin using a African Death Bee that looks so ridiculous it was laughable to look at. Oh boy. More of the out-of-touch older producers playing up the then overused "Swinging London" motif. Even a contemporary series like The Monkees--featuring a band who in real life, were actually part of the 60s youth and style culture--did not sink into that silly stereotype. Lyn Peters is the only reason to put up with this 3-parter, as she was an interesting teen villainess who was interested in Robin. For that reason alone, she would have been a good returning character, adding youthful criminals as a plot, instead of Dozier's rolodex of barely employed former "star" actors. Notice how Batman pats Robin's shoulder, as if to comfort him when Lady Pudence is taken away. Again, her being a villainess would have been interesting and tested Robin, but not in the high school crush way seen in most of Newmar's performances as Catwoman opposite Batman. Yeah, dumping Ffogg and Peasoup along the way.
