It's a minor thing, but it bothered me that the Amazons, including Diana, knew all of these languages, especially English, and yet knew nothing of the outside world, like the fact that a place called Germany existed. The only way they could learn the more recent languages like English would be to have sent someone out to gather books to learn from. And if they gathered english books they must have learned something about the politics of that time and the divisions between European countries. Maybe the Amazons did that and just kept what they knew from Diana to protect her like Hippolitta did with her actual parentage. But it bothered me that Diana could be fluent in a language that the only way to learn is to also gain the knowledge the movie makes a point of her lacking.

For you guys that saw it...what do y'all think about bringing my 9 and 12 year old daughters? They really want to see it, but I'm concerned at the rating. They're not my daughters, but they seem more than old enough to me. Some superhero violence. Perhaps a little more than usual as it's set during a war. So lots of bullets fly around. Lots of explosions. Poisonous gas. People are frequently dropping dead, but not gruesomely. It's a fairly sanitized take on war. There are lots of sad civilian casualties, but off-camera. That seems pretty fine... I usually get the MPAA rundown, but it's not out yet for some reason. Thanks!

I saw it late last night with some friends and I was very surprised by it and I wasn't too keen on Chris Pine's performance as Steve Trevor. He was okay to the extent. Gal Gadot looks sensational and her fight scenes were just as I thought it was and she did a great job acting and definitely deserved some credit in this movie. Patty Jenkins did an great job as Director and I felt that she outclassed Zach Snyder in Batman v Superman Movie a year ago. I would loved to see another movie of her starring Wonder Woman and I felt this movie is the best DC Movie that came out in the past 5-10 years.
Seriously, this movie rocks!

I was going to ask the same thing, as I was wondering if it would be OK for my 9 and 11 (although she's closer to 12 and very intellectually advanced) daughters to see it.

There's one scene I'm not sure about, where Diana and Steve talk about men and women sleeping together and then start talking about 'pleasures of the flesh' and how men are necessary for procreation but unnecessary for pleasure. Don't know what a 9 year old would get out of that. There's also a scene where Chris Pine is nude, but nothing is shown.

Rotten tomatoes gives it an extremely high mark. The description by a few critics make me think that Diana is treated as she was in George Perez's run, which I like a lot. I don't think I'll go see it in the theatre, but the WWI setting is very intriguing. So you'll be waiting for Gadot? (I've been waiting to use that pun for months now, not the best place to use it, but it was too bad to waste it.)

Have a nude scene will definitely make them giggle, but that's not a big deal. Much Obliged!

Just saw it. Definitely the best of the DC movies. Gadot was awesome. The fight scenes were well choreographed. The WWI setting made more sense than WWII for the message of this movie.
It was....wonderful (pun intended).

I liked it a lot. I think it does tone better than just about any other DC or Marvel movie. Other DC movies tend to be too grim and revel in violence/suffering. Some Marvel movies have too many jokes, like it's a stand-up routine. Wonder Woman balances different tonal elements really well. Gal Gadot is also better than I expected. She handles most things well. Many a more skilled actress would add unforeseen dimensions, but Gadot was pretty good. She and Pine worked well together.
It's way more competently made than Batman vs. Superman or Suicide Squad. Hopefully, Wonder Woman will break down some of the resistance to hiring female directors for blockbusters, because Jenkins outdoes Snyder or Ayer. I did, however, think there was an over-reliance of some shaky CGI, but from the trailer for Justice League, it looks that also going to be a problem in that movie (ugh, Cyborg).

It's clear they had a library. And it's clear that it was out-of-date. But it didn't seem like it could be older than a thousand or so years old, given what they knew. But it otherwise seemed liked they'd been isolated since basically the dawn of human history. And she seemed to not only know languages, but modern dialects.

I saw it last night and thought it was fantastic. Gal Gadot was perfect (and I think I'm in love.) It more or less adapts the first arc of the Wein/Perez run, adding another golden age villain, but one who fits right into the scenario and is used judiciously. It's not a typical villain part and doesn't make the film feel overcrowded.
I don't think the movie should be rated higher than PG (I'm assuming from the questions that it was PG-13). There are some brief shots of soldiers with war wounds but it's not too graphic. I liked that they didn't try to "adult it up" with any gratuitous profanity. It might make me sound like a prude (I'm not) but whenever it's been done in other movies it always seemed forced and awkward, out of place. The "sex" conversation between Diana and Steve is the kind that will go over the heads of younger kids, and if they do get it, well, they already know then eh?
As an aside, I was wary about going on opening night but I've never had an audience so quiet at a blockbuster multiplex screening. Even during the quiet scenes, not so much as a sound from the kids right behind me. Either they had all fallen asleep or it was holding everyone's attention really well. Since people applauded when the credits came up, I think the latter.
Oh, and there are no post-credit scenes.

Did a bunch of posts just get deleted? I have the same impression... Impulse recently said he enjoyed the movie, but I can't find the post anymore. *Edit* Ah, I found it... it was in the Recent Movie Discussion thread.
