The main CBR site is running a poll asking people to vote for their favorite Kirby creation. The choices are a decent sample of his oeuvre, but by no means a complete one. If anyone cares to vote, the poll can be found here-M |

In the poll, I voted for Kamandi but for me it was like throwing a dart at the dartboard. I like so many of them and Devil Dinosaur wasn't represented for me to lavish attention on (not my absolute favorite, but he one I feel doesn't get enough love).

It was a tough vote for me. I went with the Avengers, mostly because they've featured in the most stories that I've enjoyed out of the characters listed. The Silver Surfer is my favorite single character of all of Kirby's creations though.

I voted for the New Gods/4th World, but only because of the breadth of the characters offerred.
Otherwise, straight up Dr Doom.

Doom is one of my favorite characters ever, but I think Stan did have a lot to do with the character. Kirby obviously had a hand in the co-creation but other characters are more Kirby, so that's why I didn't vote Doom despite probably being my single favorite Marvel character.
Think it's so of short sighted of the pollster to not put later characters up as well including Captain Victory or Silver Star, but he probably didn't have room.

This is tough since the X-Men are technically a Kirby creation even if he wasn't an important influence in the franchise's direction.

My favorite Kirby "creation" is the Hulk. He's my favorite Marvel character. That said, his best work is the Fantastic Four followed closely by The Fourth World and Thor.
