BTW, I just remembered what all the Peter/Ned scenes reminded me of: Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Spider-man having a sidekick is from Miles Morales... there were quite a few 'Ultimate' elements, I think.

Saw it, very pleasantly surprised. This was probably the first Marvel movie I genuinely enjoyed. It felt honest for once. I could have done without Tony Stark though... 7/10

Finally saw this on pay-per-view, very good and entertaining.
Keaton, as ever, does a fantastic job as Toomes. His conversation with Peter in the car before the dance was chilling.
I like Holland, he's closer to the actual age of Peter here and his wit and banter are likeable without truly crossing over into being an annoyance (though Happy may disagree).
Ned was fine though as others said, I took Liz to be Liz Allen so the reveal of her father was an interesting twist. Although the reveal concerning Michelle was more enticing.
Look, they made Aunt May into a hippie! Who drives a Volvo no less, of course! Although I'm more bothered by the complete absence of any mention of Uncle Ben. While I wasn't expecting yet another rehash of his origin, I'd thought a mention in passing of some kind would have been warranted on some level.
I quite liked his mentorship with Tony. Based on the early trailers and such, I thought Tony would be over-exposed here but they used him quite nicely here (and loved the last scenes with him, Happy, and Pepper). The tech suit was alright, I was more annoyed with all the different types of webbing. The web glider wings were a nice touch and the expressive eye lenses make ALL the difference! Karen the AI was o-kay, just there to allow Peter the opportunity to express his inner dialogue mostly.
Overall though, a great film and representation of the character.

I saw the movie today on DVD. I give it a 7/10. It's inescapable that Stark was going to be prominent in this movie as they wanted to firmly tie this movie to the Avengers/Iron Man franchise. Keaton was a sympathetic villain that was created when the Government pushed him and his crew out of a job. I didn't really buy that someone could build sophisticated technology from the pieces of the Chitari wreckage unless their name was Stark, But I accept it was a plot point and just move on from it.

Finally saw it at the cheap theater/pub yesterday. I enjoyed the movie a lot, and my wife, who isn't a comics fan, liked it a lot more than she liked Guardians 2.
The last post-credit scene made me double over laughing.
