i enjoyed Cuti and Staton's work on e-man better though; it may not be classically 'politically correct', but it's not 'disrespectful' either. non partisan. What about Elongated Man / Mister Fantastic? Reed is the big brain who struggles not to get so caught up in his work & studies so as not to ignore his wife, family and friends yet I have a softer spot for Ralph Dibny, a detective on par with (or even perhaps better than) Bruce. Reed i more interesting to me BECAUSE of those flaws; i love to wanna smack him for the way he spoke to Sue from 1961-1972 or so. i've always been a massive FF fan, but much of that was due to myb respect (may be misplaced?) of a flag-ship comic that had a leader whom on many levels i could LOATHE, yet on other levels, respect. Elongated Man never did that for me. his 'stakes were low'. it's not like if his girlfriend chose an Atlantean over him, all of New York would fall. and in the 60's comics, whether Marvel or DC, if New York fell, dominoe effect, the whole world fell.

Mister Majestic I just read this thread and my favorite Analogues of Superman is this character Mister Majestic of Wildstorm/Image Comics and I was a huge WILDcats fan myself in the 80's and the 90's and this guy above is another dead-ringer for Superman and too me his costume is a huge favorite of mine and still is.

Red Tornado / Vision. Like the similarity in origin & first date of publication of The Doom Patrol and the X-Men, Red Tornado (August, 1968) and the Vision (October, 1968) are uncomfortably close, with both characters having histories of having the memories or engrams of dead or long gone individuals, while striving to assert/establish their own identities. Moreover, both made their debut in their respective publisher's all too similar group titles.

Terrific drawing. I'm still trying to pin down who you are...Shame on me. never gonna happen lol. but that's mainly due to how many people (including lurkers) feel free to do nasty things to anyone non-partisan. and speak out for work-ethic over 'virtue-signalling'. both lefties and righties have been awful in 'dox'ing' people, and worse. give up the need to know, Stephen Strange, lol just enjoy what joy i can bring you here. enjoy the ride, don't question where the tires on the car come from

Justice League of America (DC) & Squadron Supreme (Marvel). I am sure everyone prefers Justice League, right? SS was intended to be a rip-off of JLA from the beginning. Marvel wanted the Avengers to fight the JLA so they created very similar characters. While at the same time the Avengers fought JLA anaglogues. (Done completely on purpose as a kind of un-official crossover.) Speaking of Avengers/JLA/Squadron/crossovers, Roy Thomas has recounted how he and Denny O'Neill (then the JLA writer) cooked up an early Avengers-JLA crossover, at the urging of their mutual friend Mike Friedrich. This unofficial "crossover" was featured in Avengers #70 and Justice League of America #75; both issues were released in September 1969. As is well known, Roy introduced the Squadron aka JLA-analogues in Avengers #70 (the Squadron Sinister here, but you get the idea--same concept). At the same time, over in JLA #75, O'Neill had the JLA face their "evil selves." Here's some of the action from that issue: Supes Batman Hawkman Atom Yep, "evil" Superman invokes Thor..."evil" Batman tosses a shield like good ol' Cap..."evil" Hawkman talks about repulsors and transistors (Iron Man's repulsor rays and transistors)...and "evil" Atom invokes Goliath and growing. O'Neill--who answered to editor Julius Schwartz, and so likely had less latitude than Roy--had to be a bit more surreptitious about the analogues/crossover. Here are the two issues in question.

Ok, I'm gonna throw out a few obscure comparisons that I feel are totally valid. The Fly (Fly Man) and Yellowjacket! YJ's yellow and black uniform is just a recolored version of the Fly's green and yellow. The Fly also could grow into a giant, like YJ, but I'm pretty sure he (the Fly) was doing it 1st! Steve Ditko's original Captain Atom, 1st in his yellow uniform but later with a red & blue, heavily influenced Marvel's 2nd version of Captain Marvel. Marvel's uniform, especially his headpiece/mask and hair, looked like Atom's original but with his 2nd outfit's colors! Marvel used to fly and leave a trail of sparkles in his wake, Atom did it 1st! Howzabout Sgt. Rock vs. Sgt. Fury, or Nick Fury vs. Sarge Steel. Man-thing vs. Swamp Thing. Alfred vs. Jarvis!

And along those lines, Fly Girl debuted in 1961; the Wasp in 1963.

Captain Marvel / Shazam Prime Out of all the companies and new universes and characters of the early 90's, I got into most of them except Malibu. I knew they were successful and had some heavy hitting creators, but the line just didn't appeal to me. I was in my mid-20's and these felt more like they were aimed at 12 year olds, primarily, which is fine. I was 12 once, but not then. Prime is sort of the epitome of what I didn't like about Malibu, so no big surprise that I vastly prefer The Big Red Cheese, though to be fair, I've never read Prime, or most Malibu except for Rune. Conan Claw the Unconquered I guess I've never read Claw, but there's no way you can out-Conan the original IMO. Great character !
