Conan the Barbarian / He-Man
Two visually similar sword and sorcery heroes. One the son of a blacksmith and a respected warrior by the time he was a teenager. The other originally a barbarian but later changed to the prince of Eternia who gains superpowers through the use of a sword and magic incantation. Both would become respected Kings in their later lives. Conan Properties actually sued Mattel due to the similarities of the characters which Mattel won the lawsuit and retained the rights.

That lawsuit and I'm very well aware of it Jesse and that's baloney on the part of Conan Properties that forces Mattel to retain the rights of it. At that time, I literally stopped reading Conan the Barbarian Comic Books and lost all aspects of it except Conan is teamed up with Red Sonja. I watched Conan the Barbarian starring Arnold Schwarzenegger once to please my friends in seeing it on the big screen and that's the first and last time I ever see it.

From what I've read it had to do with Conan Licensing Company being at some point in negotiations with Mattel to release a line of Conan figures but for whatever reason it fell through. When He-Man came out a few years later the Conan people believed they were being ripped off having previously given Mattel a significant amount of Conan material. Sounds like their was some bad blood due to the initial toy rights deal not going through.

I did not know about the bad blood concerning about the toy rights and all; but come on both of these characters are totally different and some very few similarities; very few and that's kind of bothered me a bit. I was a He-Man and She Ra fan because my nieces wanted to watch the show with me back in 1985 or so. Thanks for telling me about the toy rights and that's something that i did not know anything about.
