One of the most common sentiments I've seen expressed during this event is folks getting excited to seek out some of the works mentioned in order to read them for the first time. So, I'm curious: which sagas from this event have caught your interest, and why?

Our library has a good selection of Barks and Rosa Duck volumes (no Life & Times though) so I think I will need to dive into some of those to fill in that hole in my comics reading. I need to finally get to the Sandman Mystery Theatre run I have put together too.

Our library has a good selection of Barks and Rosa Duck volumes (no Life & Times though) so I think I will need to dive into some of those to fill in that hole in my comics reading. I need to finally get to the Sandman Mystery Theatre run I have put together too. -M I have such fond memories of reading Barks for the first time. I bought a few inexpensive tpbs and wasn't sure I was loving it at first. Then, I clearly recall sitting in an airport lounge, waiting for my flight, and reading "The Lost Crown of Genghis Khan." That was when it clicked. I was in love. I'm actually not a fan of much of Rosa's work. It often feels too labored and too stuck in the shadow of Barks while failing to capture Barks' simplicity and fun. Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck is a masterpiece, but (for me) it's the exception and not the rule. Telling the story of young Scrooge McDuck necessarily takes Rosa to new characters and territory that Barks didn't explore first, and thus Rosa naturally thrives there. |

I've read a couple stories here and there, mostly in FCBD issues over the last handful of years, but I did pick up a handful of Gemstone issues back when Duck Tales was first on the air and they were on the stands. I liked what I read but never really sought out more, as there always seemed to be something else to draw my attention and dollars. -M |

Far, far too much. And that's just the stuff I'd like to re-read because of the event.
That being said, I very much want to get into some Cerebus. I have so much I want to read but I think I've put this one off for too long already.

I've made a list of sagas that I want to revisit. I just read Hellboy for the first time on comixology. It was pretty good, I might try more.

I usually suggest starting with the Chained Coffin and Others trade as it offers a great variety of the themes and tones Mike features in the run in a nice concise package. |
