I would start buying my own comics in another four months. That said...
I've read many of these books via reprints of one sort or another.
Action #450 I bought at a garage sale at some point.
Batman #266 I picked up somewhere along the line.
I bought The Shadow #12 when I was collecting that series.

At this point, I've bought my first comics.
The only comic I can confirm I bought in May 1975 is Justice League of America #121. I also have Uncle Scrooge #120, but that may be my brother's. It will be a couple of months before my one comic purchase a month becomes a trickle...then a flood.

Back in May 1975, a month before I was going to leave the country and American comics behind for a while, I bought:
1st Issue Special #5: I was a sucker for all of this series except Lady Cop. I wasn't all that impressed with Manhunter, though.
Amazing Spider-Man #147: I wasn't a big Spider-Man fan, but I got this. Must have liked the look of Tarantula.
Astonishing Tales #31: I was enjoying being in on the ground floor of new Marvel series like Deathlok. It's kind of amazing how ahead of its time this series was. Rich Buckler's high point, I'd say.
Dead of Night #11: The Bullpen Bulletins had me excited for the Scarecrow, and I thought it was a very cool concept. I was disappointed that it didn't last.
Defenders #26: I would never miss an issue of this.
Famous First Edition F-8: What a thrill to read Flash Comics #1!
Fear #29: More new Marvel series that I was pumped up about! Morbius was a great concept, but even then I felt it wasn't delivering

Giant-Size Fantastic Four #6
Giant-Size Man-Thing #5: Marvel's answer to the Super-Specs; again, the Bulletins had me excited for these, and they mostly delivered the goods. Man-Thing gave us another installment of Howard, Doc reprinted the issues of that which I'd missed, FF reprinted some prime Kirby.
Invaders #1: I felt like I should get this one, even if I didn't much care for it, since it was a new super-team.
Justice League of America #121: I hated the distorted Chan cover, but I was still into JLA
Kong the Untamed #2: This book was way better than I expected it to be.
Kull and the Barbarians #2: I was starting to like the barbarian titles; Conan had the least interest for me, since it was, from my perspective, far into its run.
Marvel Spotlight #23: More new Marvel series that I got from the start. Son of Satan never lived up to my expectations once Trimpe left. This was not the kind of comic for Sal Buscema or Jim Mooney.
Marvel Team-Up #36: I kept buying this, even though I never much liked it. This one, with Frankenstein, was no exception.
Morlock 2001 #3: Outrageous and cool!
Phantom Stranger #38: I would stick with this through thick and thin, thanks to my early love for the title.
Planet of the Apes #10: I was a POTA fanatic. Would never miss an issue.
Plop #15: Another I'd never miss.
Sandman #4: At the time, one of my favorite comics, visually, anyway. Great to have Kirby back.
Shadow #12: I had a subscription which would end here.
Skull the Slayer #1: Another new Marvel series that would excite me by the premise, let me down with the execution.
Strange Tales #181: I was loving the new Warlock by Starlin.
Super-Villain Team-Up #1: I was a sucker for any team-up title, although ultimately disappointed that it would (almost always) be the same team-up.
Superboy #210: Loved the Legion around this time. Very accessible and fresh.
Weird Suspense #3: I tried all of the Atlas heroes, and saw this one through to the end. Didn't care for Boyette's art, though.
Wonder Woman #219: The JLA guest stars (this time Elongated Man) drew me back to WW.

I graduated from college that month, and though I loved comics still, my buying habits had definitely changed I bought a few titles out of inertial loyalty: Batman and Detective; the Shadow (decent, but far from the beauty of its first few issues); Conan; War is Hell; and JLA (God, how I hate Ernie Chua covers!)..
I'd also buy anything a little different or new: 1st Issue Special; Scarecrow; for instance, and anything with reprints. Really enjoyed Warlock, too.

As the midnight hour comes we usher in June and it's time for another trip down nostalgia lane.... Comics on sale in June 1975 Looking over the list, I had the following when they came out... Captain America 189 Marvel Spectacular 17 that's it, it was slim pickings for comics for me that month... What I have now in one form or another includes... A few thoughts...
Somewhere along the line I picked up
Amazing Spider-Man 148. Probably at a yard sale.
Claw #3 when I was in a S&S phase.
Detective 451...I dunno...but I know I got it somewhere.
The odd one...I know that we had The Wacky Adventures of Cracky #12. It had to have been picked up by one of my older siblings.
Upon further review...I bought Adventure #441 for the 7 Soldiers back-up.

In June 1975, I bought:
1st Issue Special #6 - The Dingbats weren't really my thing, but I was getting almost all of this series, and I did like Kirby.
Adventure Comics #441 - Aparo, Aquaman, sold.
Arrgh #5 - I liked monster humor, so I bought this oddity: Marvel publishing a comic with the interiors copyrighted to Andru and Esposito. The other issues were Marvel productions, sometimes reprints.
Avengers #139 - I'd become a fan of the Pyms via Marvel Feature, so this spotlight on them (and Whirlwind) sold me.
Batman Family #1 - First issues of Batman comics were rare back then. Cool idea, I thought.
Brave and the Bold #121 - Haney, Aparo, and the Metal Men. Irresistible.
Creatures on the Loose #37 - I was following the Man-Wolf series here.
Defenders #27 - Never missed the Defenders.
Demon-Hunter #1 - I tried most of the Atlas superhero comics, so this was no exception.
Doc Savage #1 - This was the B&W magazine, which felt a lot more like one of the novels than Marvel's color comics had.
Justice League of America #122 - I bought JLA routinely.
Justice, Inc. #3 - I was really excited about this series, but I really liked the Al McWilliams premiere issue more than Kirby's.
Marvel Team-Up #37 - I didn't much like MT-U, but kept buying it. This one had Man-Wolf, so I probably would have bought it to keep up with my ongoing Man-Wolf collection.
Marvel Two-in-One #11 - I wanted to read the wrap-up to the short-lived Golem series, lame as it was.
Planet of the Apes #11 - I was an Apes fanatic. Alcala's adaptation of Beneath ended here.
Plop #16 - Loved Plop!
Shazam #20 - I was sticking with this comic. Never loved it as much as I thought I should, but I did like Schaffenberger's art.
Sherlock Holmes #1 - I was participating in the mid-70's Sherlock Holmes craze, so I was excited for this one, and disappointed that it didn't continue.
Superboy #211 - I had been made into a big fan of the Legion, and was enjoying Mike Grell's work.
Swamp Thing #18 - I was still buying, but was disappointed that the original creative team were all gone. I should probably look back at this, because I've lately realized David Michelinie was usually a very good writer.
Tomb of Dracula #36 - My favorite non-super-hero comic of the time.
X-Men #94 - Giant-Size X-Men #1 had bowled me over, so I was on board for this revival.

Hey! Jungle Action #17! That's the first super-hero comic I ever bought!
The next month, I got Daredevil #126. And within the next few months I was picking up Hulk, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Captain America, Thor and I don't know what-all.
I was doomed!

There was a bookstore/tailor shop(?) that sold comics for 15 cents (?) and/or bought them for a nickel or traded 2 for 1... i picked up a lot of 70's stuff there through probably '78 or so when the shop went out of business...
It is hard for me to remember what i bought new and what i bought at the shop, but here's what i got from this month... i would have been 14 and in full Marvel Zombie mode... though i still bought the occasional DC and one or two of the Atlas books (and there were the Christmas subscriptions that were still going on... the folks bought us comic subscriptions for Christmas and i got a lot of stuff that way)

Brave and the Bold 121 (cool Aparo Metal Men) subscription
