BA-TWANG may be my favorite sound effect ever. I wonder if a sound effects thread would be worth starting. I have to agree, it sounds pretty awesome.

It's visually appealing AND manages to perfectly capture the sound of this bouncing on concrete, which is what I assume Whoosiz is.

So, if Robby Reed dialed H-E-R-O-I-N-E would he become a female? Is there an untold story behind this concept? As an editor, I'd assign Bob Haney to write it

Yeah! All the girls say that Don Juan wields a super-sword! Do you think the kid who submitted this had any idea what the historical Don Juan is most famous for?

Even by Silver Age standards, Whirl-i-gig is really something.
I don't think a thread has ever made me as interested in a book as this one.

Sal Trapani usually hired a ghost penciller. Who do you think really drew the Dial H stories credited to Sal?

Yeah! All the girls say that Don Juan wields a super-sword! Do you think the kid who submitted this had any idea what the historical Don Juan is most famous for? Actually, Dave Wood created most of the original Dial for H heroes. It wasn't until the next arc in Adventure Comics did they start becoming reader submissions. Rob: Jim Mooney?

I don't think a thread has ever made me as interested in a book as this one. When I got into collecting back issues in the 70s, this was the run I went after, partly because I remembered the King Candy/Plastic Man story from when I was a kid, and partly because you could still get them for 2-3 dollars. I eventually got an original story page and the Robby Reed drawing Mooney did for the original Who's Who.

Flies on the back of Wingy the Pegasus. Artist: Jim Mooney That one, I believe made an appearance a couple of years ago in the Nu52 "Dial H" series in the issue about "dialing heroes that are too embarrassing or inappropriate to leave the house."
