Although I would go for 90% of what people have picked. I will just live in the fantasy world and believe I will find a copy in a garage sale/flea market/attic some day.

In which vein, were all the stories done for the never-published Web of Horror #4 eventually published? Not all of them, but most of them were, winding up in a disparate array of prozines and fanzines like "Reality" and "I'll Be Damned" as well in Vampirella in the case of a neat Brunner tale. But according to Richard Arndt, guru of these things, among the vanished from that aborted issue were a couple Kaluta shorts. A real shame. Thanks for that. I've got Arndt's book on B&W horror, but of course at the time I asked that I was at work & my copy was here at the house. (Speaking of whom, there's a guy who used to post occasonally on CBR but AFAIK hasn't made it here.) And staying with the subject of B&W horror, I wouldn't mind owning a copy of Hastings' Eerie Tales, which AFAIK hasn't been reprinted. Wouldn't be willing to pay more than a few bucks, though, & it goes for close to $200. Oh, well.

Otherwise, much like Slam I am by no means a rare-issue fetishist & would be happy as a clam with a cheap reprint of just about anything I can think of.
I can say that, of course, now that I've got all the nonreprint issues of Sgt. Fury. And all the 80-Page Giants & '60s DC annuals. And all the Gold Key Ripley's. And quite a few other complete runs, though off the top of my head the aforementioned are the jewels, such as they are, of my collection, such as it is. Funny how that works.

Well since I own Fantastic Four #66 and Iron Man #55, I'm not sure what else I would want. Hmmm ... Maybe Thor 165 if you don't already have it? I would have to say Amazing Fantasy 15 is the comic I would like to buy the most. I will eventually. But there will always be something else I want.

As at least one other person has mentioned, I would also purchase Incredible Hulk #181, but not for the reason most people would. See, I hate Wolverine, but as I've written before, I have an OCD-like compulsion to complete runs once I've started them. I totally understand that, and I admire it. We have several members here who have collected complete or near-complete runs of jaw-droppingly significant titles: Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Journey Into Mystery/Thor!
I lack so many qualities necessary for that level of achievement, patience and passion among them, that I am left in abject awe. I'm convinced that there's no ONE way to collect; "you must do what you feel is right, of course."
I finished collecting a complete run of Captain America in floppy form last year, which wasn't my holy grail when I started out, but over time I found myself getting closer and closer, so I just decided to make the final push. One thing that has helped me recently are accepting Omnibus and Masterworks books as legitimate sources and not inferior to floppies. For me, I don't think it's the need to have the book in a particular format (although heaven knows, I do love my floppies), but that I need to have the entire story. I'll hold off on reading a particular series because I'm missing just one or two issues, because I'm worried that something important might happen or some small clue to a bigger mystery will be revealed in the issue that I skipped, and with the price of some older comics being beyond my current means, I was getting frustrated by never getting to read books that had been sitting in my collection sometimes for years. Case in point is my Iron Man collection. I have the Masterworks for issues 1 - 38, then the rest in floppy form except issues #43 and 48, which I'm hoping to pick up in a couple of weeks at Pittsburgh Comicon. After I get those two issues, I will be able to sit down and read the entire series from start to finish and not feel like I'm missing something. I'm doing the same thing with Thor and Daredevil and am attempting to do it with Fantastic Four; I collect the floppies back to a certain point, then stop and pick up the collected editions to fill in back to the beginning (and save some money).

At this point in my life, just finishing my runs of "Master of Kung Fu","Werewolf By Night" and the Wein/Wrightson issues of "Swamp Thing" costs more than I can actually afford, and these aren't all THAT expensive.
But they will be mine. Oh yes, they will be mine.

On second thought, I think I'd rather replace my long-missing copy of Iron Man #1 than have an All-Star #3. My original copy, bought off the stands in '68, went toward my bound copy of Iron Man #1-25 which I sold years ago in a time of financial hardship. I've found new copies of #2-25 over the decades since but never a #1 I could afford without selling a kidney.

As Warlock and Thanos go I have about every major appearance of theirs up to Abnett and Lanning's GotG. (And as I've admitted before here on the forum, I'm not a big Kirby fan, but he totally owned those Thor issues with Him. Even Sif didn't look as bad as most of his women.) The only thing that comes to mind as something, I have in a reprint, that I would want the original of but haven't wanted to pay the price, since I discovered him in Star Lord's mini series .... Tales to Astonish #13

That sounds like an introduction to a review thread to me... I mostly agree with you about just having the story...except for Iron Man. I've held off on the Iron Man Masterworks, because I'd really like to get the floppies, but I know I won't if I have the Masterworks. I really should get the first couple (from the ToS issues) though.. those are mostly a pipe dream, and I have the Cap half in Masterworks already . Of course, I have alot of the more current runs in trades, so, yeah, I'm not logical.

I want to change my answer. I considered both of these, First appearance of Black Widow. First appearance with classic look. But this is what I'd pick. First "solo" series.

Dunno what I paid for my copy of that Amazing Adventures #1 maybe 4 or 5 years ago, but knowing me, there's no way it was more than a couple of bucks. Probably less than that.

Any chance of me paying that has dwindled to zero as I found some collected edition earlier for $10 that has that entire run (just her stories) and some other stories.
