Provolone cheese on Pizza? NYC is giving this a big Bronx Cheer. Thats not a good thing It actually is, though maybe not as the only cheese. Wouldn't have occurred to me if a member of a local restaurant-centric FB group who's from Chicago (& who swears up & down that edible pizza doesn't exist down here) hadn't extolled its virtues awhile back.

What a tragic defilement of thin crust, black olives (which I love; my digestive system can't handle green, anyway) & provolone. I will pray for you, adam. Oops ... no. No, that's not an option for me. I'll ask i cctrombone, Richard Bishop & D.E. Sinclair to pray for you. No god can save me from the sin of anchovies. Anchovies are not a sin, my friend. They are wonderful little pieces of heaven sent to earth in salty fish form.
And Dan, I was going to dismiss you as just a crank, but your love for catfish redeems you enough that I will forgive your trespasses against the anchovy.

Makes me wonder if my cousin near Shreveport likes (or is even familiar with; she's not exactly sophisticated, unlike -- obviously -- suave, debonair & urbane moi). She's such a fiend for salt that she heavily salts her fried catfish.
Nothing against salt myself (indeed, when I ate lunch today at a Tex-Mex place down the road I passed the shaker over my guacamole a few times), but I'm far from being a fiend for it. I've barely touched the box of Kroger brand I've had since I moved here nearly 13 years ago. (Easy to tell because we don't have Kroger here, unfortunately. There's one in Auburn, about 35 miles east, but I make it through there about once every decade.)

Oh, and Dan, as I've learned here in Oklahoma, love that fried catfish with green tomato relish and hush puppies (and a beer).
The best tuna I had was a rare wasabi tuna steak in Dallas and it was awesome.

I can eat sashimi all day, but with tuna steaks it needs to be at least medium. Something about the texture of raw tuna doesn't work well in large chunks.

Makes me wonder if there's a green tomato relish somewhere, so to speak. It's commonplace with catfish in SW Arkansas, as I've noted, & also in the one place I've had catfish in the Shreveport area, in my father's hometown. Only time I've had fresh tuna at all recently -- & we're talking several years ago, unfortunately -- was at a Japanese steakhouse here. Heavenly.

Is it best to watch Star Trek: TNG from a later season than season 1? Depends. Some important continuity occurs in the first season (1st Q, 1st Lore, everything with Tasha Yar), and the final episode of the entire series, in particular, really punishes people who didn't watch the first episode, but Season One is also really really really terrible until the final few episodes. I like Season 2 a lot better, but the show doesn't really hit any kind of stride until midway through Season 3. So I would suggest TRYING to start from the beginning but, should it prove intolerable, jump ahead and then go back once you've already decided you like the show and want to see more.

Just stick with season 1 and get through it. It's not the worst thing in the world. I guess it depends who you are. For me, I HAVE to watch a series from the beginning for the most part. The cool thing about Star Trek though is that it's really episodic so you can jump in at almost any part of the series...although I would start with the earlier seasons.
