I know who he is - but I read some of his work on Daredevil, Ultimate Spider-Man of which he made Aunt May like his Mother of which it's kind of cool. I think it would be either the Legion and/or JSA. I think he would do well with the Legion of Superheros of a book that I would love to see him write and take a gander with it. mrp mentioned Zatanna and that a possibility - a long shot.
For 3 or 4 titles ... I would say Legion of Superheroes, JSA, and Zatanna his work on Jessica (Jewel) Jones might kickstart Zatanna. Another long-shot would be the Justice League, but I doubt that.

I think the regular Justice League book would be a good fit.
It’s high profile with the big gun characters and it’s been hampered by delays and inconsistent quality. Bendis could turn that all around pretty quick.

Priest is taking over the JLA book that Hitch is on now.. that's the one with most of the 'big guns'. The other one (I think one is 'JLA' and one is "Justice League' not sure which is which) has Batman and a bunch of random street level heroes.... that would be a decent fit, actually.
I poked in to CBR, alot of people there think Nightwing or a Tim Drake solo, for what that's worth.
Also, apparently he said in a panel in 2004 he loves Zatanna.

He was Marvels superstar writer and I enjoyed most of what he did. Maybe he can do some great JLA stories.

If I had to make book as to what books Bendis would do, I would pick... Action Comics, Zatanna, Birds of Prey, one of the new creator-participation books and an occasional Vertigo creator-owned project (whether Powers moved there or something else).
I'll even go out on a limb and pick artists...Deodato comes and does Action with him, putting an A-list team on Supes and the granddaddy of all comic titles, Sara Pichelli comes over and does Zatanna with him, David Marquez joins him on Birds of Prey and Alex Maleev on the creator-participation title for the new line. Oeming does the Vertigo book with him.
I'm going to go 0 for 5 with three complete whiffs (the Aaron Judge special), but maybe I will connect on one.

Zatanna with Sara Pichelli is a GREAT call.. I'd both be happy to see that and put money on it. Action/Superman are both going really well creatively atm, so I'd think it'd be more likely for them to go back to a 3rd Superman title if he wanted Superman.
I'm not sure he still has creator-owned stuff in him, but maybe.
I saw someone suggest a Gotham Central-type book.. I'd be all over that.
Or how about Gotham Academy? Be interesting to see what he did with a YA-targeted title.

I think he'd do great writing Captain Marvel, I think he really got the teen voices of the characters in Ultimate Spider-Man so I think he'd do Billy well too.

I hope Bendis gets to bring his gritty style of noir to Batman, his run on Daredevil gave us some of the best Daredevil stories ever. He'll definitely shake it up over at DC anyway, as they haven't brought him in to work on minor titles. If I was Tom King I'd be nervously looking over my shoulder in the coming months. I don't suppose there's any chance of Dan Slott 'defecting' to DC anytime soon, is there? (Please!)  |

A friend of mine that goes to my LCS mentioned that to me yesterday and I wanted to convey that your comment here is noteworthy and I totally agree that he would do a good job writing Billy and I just wanted to let everyone know that if Bendis did Captain Marvel for DC - about 20-30 members of that LCS would buy it. |

Bendis isn't going to do one book, he'll do several.Some will be high profile characters, others will be B or C list characters he will try ot elevate. There may even be creator-owned stuff mixed in there and possibly some kind of event maxi or mini post-Doomsday Clock if the contract runs that long. King right now is a darling of the fan press and fandom much the way Bendis was when DD and Ultimate Spidey hit, and someone they are grooming a sa marquee name. They wooed him away form Marvel too and made him exclusive, and made promises o him too, so he's safe on Batman. Snyder has said he is wrapping up his Batman stuff, so I could see BMB getting something like the All Star Batman book or newly launched Batbook (maybe a new Shadow of the Bat or somethign like that) if he gets a Batbook. -M |
