I suspect this means his creator owned work will end up (back) at Image.

Bendis, while he's a big name and moves copies, is the personification of most of what's wrong with Marvel since 2000 IMO. I'll admit I not only liked but loved his DD run. I'm sure he's going to get some kind of Batman action, and maybe some Teen Titans action. Those both make sense. His coming to DC means very little to me. Hickman, however, excites me, and I'm hoping he takes Legion over. I think that could be epic. I'm totally the other way round. As noted earlier in the thread, I quite like Bendis's writing...yes, it's a little samey and rather one dimensional at times, but overall I think he's a great writer of naturalistic dialogue and his plots are always satisfying. Hickman on the other hand, I just don't get the love for. I remember expecting good things from him, based on the hype, when he took over Fantastic Four. His tenure on that title turned into a mass of good, but completely unfinished ideas that he seemingly just threw at the "canvas" with little or no idea of how to tie them together or fashion them into a satisfying payoff -- let alone craft anything remotely resembling an ongoing narrative. My take away from his run on FF was that, despite having plenty of ideas, he's a very poor writer, in terms of the craft of plotting and the bringing to completion his many plot threads.

Yeah, I saw your post and chuckled that we were on opposite sides of the street on this news I haven't read a lot of Hickman's Marvel work, but I've liked what I've read. Because of my Bendis dislike, I've barely read most of his Marvel work.

I feel the same way about Hickman's creator owned stuff, which is why other than his run on the Ultimates(which had the same issues you noted) I never tried out any of his other Marvel stuff. I feel like he needs a really strong editor, or perhaps a co-writer, so that way he can come up with the cool ideas and someone can then focus those more into fully fleshed out stories.

Bendis on Justice League.
2 page spread of all the members talking around the table with multiple dialog balloons. Next page Batman enters the room & all talk ceases. Next page a 20 panel grid with close up on Batman. Every panel identical except the last one which has a dialog balloon with Batman saying "Hrrmmm..."

Reports I keep seeing say Bendis will be the lead writer inthe Superman office, most likely taking over as the writer of Action Comics after #1000.

I could definitely see him writing a good Jon... as long as he doesn't get rid of him. That's a pretty big risk for DC though.. the Super titles have really been revitalized with rebirth... shifting when things are going well seems... weird.

Not sure if I like that or not, but Beavis has a solid sales record. He's pretty much a rock star. I want to like his stuff. Loved his Daredevil.
I agree with wildfire2099, if it ain't broke don't "fix" it; the Super titles have come out of Rebirth especially strong, which is great news.
Honestly, I want to be happy, but I'm more fearful than anything.
I guess we'll see what happens.

Apparently Bendis had a health scare last week with a staph infection that put him in the hospital, blinded him for a few days and nearly killed him. He is home now, recovering, and slowly getting back to work. Wishing good health to him as he recovers.

Apparently as of yesterday, the infection had flared up again and he was back in the hospital.

Bleeding Cool is reporting that news out of a recent con in Brazil put Bendis on the ongoing Superman title in 2018 with Ivan Reis and Joe Prado as he art team. It is BC on DC, so take it for what you will. -M
