How about one character throwing multiple punches, as done by the great JRSR? This is literally the next issue of Spidey I'm going to read as I started from the beginning over the summer. This whole series has been pretty incredible!

For some reason, this was the first cover that occurred to me on reading the topic:

^One of the few Gil Kane efforts I dislike...not a fan of the way Man-Thing looks here. Mind you, I have seen this cover also give credit to Romita so maybe it is more his work on this collaboration that I don't particularly love. Excellent punch though! Marvel house style can smother even Gil Kane.

Spidey trying his best, which is why I love him! I've never been the biggest Spider-man fan but this issue is special to me. In it you see the classic Avengers and you see Peters compassion towards a confused Hulk/ Banner leading him to not capture him thus failing the Avengers test.

I'll go with one of the first books I bought off the stands:

Probably my favorite issue of the Xmen. For the longest time this had been an issue I could never afford. I was able to get this several years back and while I have sold off parts of my Xmen Collection this is one issue I will never sell. Also by happy coincidence it was signed by John Byrne and I never noticed that until one day last year I took the book out to look at it and there it was.

Superman vs. "Superman" on this cover.

I was curious so I looked at the results of the last 6 contests ( purely unscientific) and discovered that the winners always posted within the first 2 pages. 3 eventual winners posted on page 1 and the other 3 on page 2. I guess it pays to get first crack at the subject for the week.

I don't quite understand it but it seems to sort of veer that direction.

Very true, and I think the main reason Kane's (and everyone else's!) early 70s Marvel covers often weren't all that great - though I admit that even the worst of them carry a certain nostalgia value for me now.

I feels like we did this subject before... Does it strike you that way too?

That's part of the reason I feel things started to ossify during the Bronze Age. The big two figured out, "if this is what sells, that's what we'll give them."
