After one of the warmest and dry years on record here in Phoenix we actually had some relief last night with a winter thunderstorm hitting around 9pm! YAY! We had wind, thunder, lightning and rain all at the same time which we have not had them all together in a very long time. So it was nice to lay in bed while listening to the storm move in and then dumping rain for about 5-10 minutes before it moved away. But such wind blowing that the rain would come back into the area about every 20 minutes as the storm circled the valley. Really splendid evening to unwind with at bedtime.

So much for our winter rain storm. Dumped plenty Tuesday night, blew out Wednesday morning. Today 67 degrees and tomorrow projected 71 degrees and 75-78 degrees for the weekend and next week. At least no snow shoveling for me! Time to break out the swim trunks and work on the tan it looks like...

Today it is 65, however the temperature is going to rapidly drop to the teens. Snow and ice expected tomorrow! We're getting the same here. 60 today, 55 for a high tomorrow, then plummeting to 17 overnight with freezing rain, wintry mix, and potentially 6-8 inches of snow by Saturday afternoon.

Our white Christmas and subzero New Year is officially over. We had warm air move in over the weekend and drove the temps up above the freezing mark. It's around 59 right now, in central Illinois, with overcast skies and a bit of mist. There is colder air moving in, with a chance for some wintery stuff tonight, and highs in the 20s, through the weekend.
We'll be back with the extended forecast after these messages...
