I totally think the movie influenced the Hela vote.

I do have to wonder how much of a bump Hela's recent appearance in Thor Ragnarok gave her performance here, as it served to remind me anyways of what a great design it was. She didn't make my list, but got some consideration. -M Haven't seen the film, but she was always pretty high on my list. . have always loved the design of her helmet!

Glad to see this! I have been waiting fooorrrrreeeeeevvvvvveeeeeerrrrrrr for this one - It was teased as a near certainty (at some point) during the Best Hero Design year, which was before the move. And this really did turn out to be a fun one!

Thanks for running this again, Kurt, and for all the hard work you put in. The Classic Comics Christmas event really is one of the very best parts of the festive season for me. So, thank you. Like Prince Hal, I think I was most surprised by the appearance of the Gentlemen Ghost on so many lists. I had never heard of this character before, I don't think, so to have him chosen by so many posters came right out of left field for me.

Gentlemen Ghost was an excellent villain on so many lists and I was surprised by that.

Thanks for undertaking this again, Kurt! It's always great to see everyone's lists and stats together. (P.S. You forgot my #2 pick, Professor Zoom. )

I'm a little confused why there are only 2 votes for Swarm. Did people not notice he's made OF BEES.

Yes the Gentleman Ghost was another surprise.
Something I meant to bring up about the various artists' renditions of Dr. Doom in one of the daily threads but I might as well do it here: one thing I liked about Kirby's version, and I'm not sure anyone else did this, is that he'd sometimes change the mask a bit to reflect whatever emotion or attitude he wanted to get across. Yes, it makes no sense, since it's supposed to be a suit of armour, but it was really effective and he never made it so obvious that it threw you off. I always found that a nice little touch.

Thanks Kurt. It's been a blast (as always). And, once again, I am still not sure I got my final list right (as always). And the Kirby fascination continues to bewilder me, but to each, his own.

You think Kirby is strange when Perez got third? I mean, isn't he historically considered to be GodAwful at character design? Isn't that nerd consensus? Weird. (Although I do really like Taskmaster, although I'm not sure if it was supposed to be taken completely seriously or if there's some tongue in cheek parody. Brother Blood, too!) Edit 2: Oh yeah, I like the Luthor suit a lot and I legit love his Braniac revamp. I guess I kind of like Perez as a costume designer. Who knew?

I'll take the elegant simplicity of Silver Swan or Cheetah over the overcomplex (and over-the-top) Hela any day. But these differences are what makes these 12 Day challenges so much fun.

Although no Kirby on my list either - although early drafts did have Googam, Son of Goom.
He's an incredibly original costume designer - He draws things that nobody else in the universe would have imagined - but they're all a little too far out to be my very favorites. The villain designs I like are the ones that instantly tell you a lot about the character, and Kirby's stuff is just a tad too abstract.

Yeah, I guess I do like a lot of Perez designs. I guess most of the complaints I heard were based around Nightwing and Jericho. And Nightwing looked really good with just a little tweaking.

Perez is totally 1970's influenced gonzo. Most everything he does is in that over the top New York in your face style and designs. Nightwing's open chest into flared collar, Jericho's fro and sideburns while wearing purple and white with gold trim stylized greco-roman suit. The Fearsome Five are mostly 70's trash except for Gizmo and Mammoth whose looks are well done. The other Teen Titan hero/villain designs all hold up surprisingly well: Vigilante, Taskmaster, Raven, Cyborg, Changeling, Brother Blood, Cheshire, Thunder and Lightning. Starfire's bikini/armor is pure comic book induced boyhood fantasy.
