My earliest memory of getting a comics was my father buying me this in April 1970 off a spinner rack right before we both went to his baseball practice in Red Hook Brooklyn.

My grandmother bought me this off a newsstand in the lower east side of Manhattan. It was July of 1970. I can't remember the first comic that I bought with my own money because I would go to candy stores with my Older brother and he would buy it for both of us.

The first comic book I can recall picking out for myself (as opposed to gifts or hand-me-downs) was Captain America #102 back in '68. Cei-U! I summon the spinner rack at Sun Drugs!

An Archie comic from the summer of 1987. I don't remember the issue number at the moment, but it had Archie and Veronica at a carnival and he was overloaded with all the stuffed animals he'd won for her. Pretty sure it wasn't Archie proper, but Laugh or PEP.
I could probably find the exact issue if I looked, but I'm tired...

Just realized...I did not answer the question in the title of the thread. First comic I BROUGHT? Brought where? Anywhere? I remember the first time I brought a comic to my aunt's cottage that we would visit in the summer as a kid. Was a copy of Spec Spidey #21 featuring good ole Scorpy

I’m sure there could be others, but I remember this one most vividly:

As a 3 or 4 year old, I was being bought UK reprints of Spider-Man, Batman and Superman comics in the late '70s. A little later, between the ages of, say, 5 and 8, I was being bought issues of Marvel UK's various Star Wars titles (I had them delivered direct to my home from the newsagents shop, along with my parent's daily newspaper), but they were still being paid for by my Mum and Dad. The first proper, American colour comic I ever bought with my own money was Marvel Two-In-One #90 in 1982...

Grant Morrisson's Time and the Batman. Maybe it's great if you've read the rest of Morrison's run, but to me at the time it was absolute nonsense. One of these days, thwhtguardian or I will have to tell the story of how we first met while I was getting cyber-lynched at CBR. Hint: it involved that story and those exact sentiments

Can't remember the issue#s or cover dates off the top of my head. Mentioned before: Thor issue where he and Silver Surfer fight together against another cosmic opponent (Big John Buscema art) and an issue of Underdog. both hooked me and from that moment on I was a comic seeker anywhere and everywhere that I might find them... It might be this comic That be the one oh comic brudder of mine!

I bought that book back in the day and still have it. It's pricey because of the Surfer appearance.

I'm not sure if I had any lying around, or if my parents even bought me any Whitman bags, but my first legit comic purchase with my own cash was when I was when I was around 16... my job (working for an inventory company) was in the same plaza as a comic book store, and I wandered in while I was waiting for a ride home one day.. before too long, I had the Wednesday routine down I had in my head that the first book I bought was Stormwatch and the PAD Aquaman, but looking at the dates I'm not sure that's actually correct.. it may have been 2099 stuff... I definitely remember thinking it was really cool Stan Lee had a comic on the stand, and I loved the Spidey 2099 costume.
