So who are your top 4 choices as favorite Herald's to Galactus? Lots of choices to choose from over the years for us. My own preferences:
By default Silver Surfer being the 1st and best and most often returned to Herald for the Big Purple G-man. His nobility, humanity and sacrifice for his home planet and eventual rebelling once coming to Earth shows the strength of character of Norrin Radd.
2nd is Firelord: mostly on a purely artistic and cosmic level. A Herald of the cosmic fires makes sense and his repeatedly stubborn and temperamental attitudes makes for great comic book conflicts and fights.
3rd is Terrax the Tamer, gifted with control over stone and earth he shows the vilest of ethics which you would think Galactus requires for a Herald seeking out sustenance for him. But Terrax was desirous and greedy and only used his powers for his own desires and hopes of freedom from servitude to Galactus.
4th is a personal favorite as Rom the Galadorian Spaceknight temporarily served Galactus promising to lead G-man to a world for consuming in order to save Galador just as the Surfer did for Zenn-La. Rom was most closest to the Surfer in integrity and honor and noble intentions. And Leading Galactus to the Dark Nebula of the Dire Wraiths where Galactus gets a case of indigestion and encounters an entire star system that he doesn't have the stomach to consume.
Who are your choices and why?

Aunt May because she's by far the most interesting. I'd love a character driven Galactus/Aunt May Herald series. May would eventually start treating Galactus just like she treated Peter in the 60's. "Galactus! You're far too sensitive and frail to eat that gas giant! What were you thinking? Good heavens!" I'd buy it. The Surfer is easily my favorite (no surprise there) but Terrax is easily my second favorite. I think it really has everything to do with how Byrne drew him and utilized him in his FF series. Such a cool visual. Firelord is cool, but I have this somewhat odd pet peeve that there are simply too many fire-based characters in comics. I like him, don't get me wrong, but Nova (while I loved her character arc in Byrne's FF) was a bit overkill. The rest I'm pretty much indifferent to, but since I'm a sucker for good cosmic stories, I typically enjoy their better appearances in comics. One recent one that I like conceptually was The Fallen One who first appeared in the Thanos series in 2004. He was, retroactively, Galactus' first herald (not that big a fan of this retcon, granted) and had the power to control dark matter, which I thought was interesting. |

I voted Terrax; he's such a good villain.
Of course I like the Surfer too, but I prefer Terrax's scheming and self-interest conflict to Norrin's constant wailing and gnashing of teeth TBH.

Nova is my favorite. She's the only one whose development I witnessed firsthand as it unfolded, from her discovery of her powers as a human torch, to her interest and fascination with Galactus, so I feel most connected with her. If I'm not mistaken, she was the only herald up to that point that was completely loyal to Galactus for the rest of her existence.
I also voted for the Surfer, Firelord and Terrax. I'm not really familiar with anyone after Nova.

I voted Surfer. Only because I prefer Terrax outside of his role as Galactus' hearld. I liked him second under Surfer as hearld, but his adventures outside that role make for a more interesting read to me. |

Morg the last I actually read a story about. Wasn't there a guy named Tyrant who was supposed to be the original herald? Now it's some fallen guy? My ranking: Surfer Terrax Nova Air-Walker Heralds really took a turn for the worse after Nova. Some legit lamos on that list based on a quick Wiki scouting. Big G losing his standards. |

Yeah, Norrin is really the de facto first choice.
The rest of my list:
2) Terrax
3) Nova
4) Stardust - mostly because he's the only other Herald that I've read about, when he made his first appearance in the Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta Ray Bill miniseries.
