I guess my reading is kind of random, whatever I feel like reading at the time. Sometimes it might be an arc, but I might need a break and jump to something else.
If I am reading a collected edition, I will read straight through (which is not always a good idea!)

but seriously, there are a handful that I read every month, and I just read those when my shipment arrives at the end of each month.
otherwise, I read them in arcs
for example: after sorting thru what arrived (easy enough, since they come packed alphabetically from my shop, Zeus! comics in Dallas). . . I leave the unread books each month in the shipping boxes, and every 6 months, I go thru to organize, and when I have a complete arc, I sit them aside to read.
make sense?

Probably something like 60% TPBs from the library. If I'm grabbing stuff from the longboxes it is pretty much random.
I only buy new comics/back issyes I'm excited about, and I read them ASAP... except occasionally I spend 15 bucks on the 3 for a dollar boxes and get burnt out.

The new stuff, I just slip it in randomly here and there. The classics I sometimes try to match up with roughly the same era of whatever book I'm reading at the time: so when I was reading a couple things from the 1940s last week I read something from the collected Johnny Hazard newspaper strips, and the last few days while I was reading a book from the 1980s I read some 2000 AD stuff.
With the 2000 AD stuff I started off just reading particular characters and story-arcs, but when I realised that I had several different collections of material that had originally appeared around the same time, I started looking up the contents of individual 2000 AD issues and reading whatever I had from that issue. So I've been reading instalments of Alan Moore's Future Shocks or Adelbard Snazz, Gerry Finley-Day's Rogue Trooper, and Pat Mills's Nemesis the Warlock, issue by issue, and stopping when I get to the end of a Nemesis arc because that's the one that's divided into well-defined "books".
I like playing little games like that sometimes but I don't make it a strict regimen. If I ever felt the urge to just carry on with one or another of those three collections and go back to others later on, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. But right now I like the feeling of reading different things from the same issue.

Among the options given, one arc from a specific title best fits my reading habits.
For back-issues, I usually re-read a specific arc or creator run of a title based around what compels me at that moment. Inspiration could come from many places, such as random comments about series or characters seen here to what MCU film was being broadcast on cable last night. I never really have any set schedule to re-read anything specific within a given year.
For new issues, I acquire mine from two sources. The majority, I buy digitally and read when I can, usually grouping titles together when I do so (all the X-titles, all DC titles, etc). There are a few titles (such as Thor and ASM) that I still buy physically. Through my LCS' website, I have my pull list set up for them to mail the lot to me when my overall price hits above a certain target. Thus, usually I receive anywhere from 2-3 issues of certain title at one time. So I generally read a batch of one title over breakfast in the morning to catch up. Actually makes the reading more exciting that way really.

I just wanted to revisit this thread because I discovered something else about my reading habits- I have many collected TPB and HC that duplicate what I Have in comic book form and I have an aversion to picking them up to read. I think it's because If I pull an Epic or Showcase tpb, I feel like I'm committed to read the entire thing. It's easier to read it in a format that I can just leave to the side than have a heavy Omnibus that I feel pressure to plow through. Strange, I know.

Historically, I've tended to read full runs in order from start to finish without interruption, with exceptions for the weekly books I'd pick up.
Lately, I still find myself reading runs from start to finish (currently working through the post-Crisis Flash run), but I will read other things, like a random TPB or graphic novel (I have been re-reading Watchmen when I get tired of The Flash).

There's another factor, time. A comic takes from 10-25 minutes an issue to read , so a collected edition that might contain 20 books is quite an investment in time.

Mostly my collection is still in storage.
I have half of my large book case full of trade, hardcovers, etc, but haven't read them in ages.
The rest of the collection is in a closet and throughout my office.
Going to get them re-boxed and organized this year and sell some of them off as I do every 10 years or so.
Having said that, most of what I read is digital.
I'm reading through the A's now and am currently enjoying Amazing Adult Fantasy, the pre-Spidey issues, which are pretty good and gotta love that Ditko art.
Otherwise, I read the few currents as they come out : Fantastic Four ( my only Marvel ), and the rest are DC's : The Terrifics, Hawkman, Freedom Fighters, Doomsday Clock, and Shazam !

For new comics I read each issue as it comes out and then the entire arc once it is complete.
For trades of newer stuff I read the entire trade or trades that make up that story line.
For older stuff (pre 1985) I tend to read parts of several different trades at once. It can be a bit repetitive to read older stuff in one sitting. Anyone that has read DC Showcase Presents or Marvel Essentials will know what I mean.

Even though I like them I found All Star Comics kind of a drag with their formula splitting up and meeting later after they've each won their individual battles, so I read an issue here and there to get a different flavor of whatever else I'm reading in between.
