I am surprised my Kirby cover didn't get any votes. But there was particularly tough competition this time.

There were so many choices for this contest. Thought i would post some of the other covers I considered. Someone should do a piece on why some Kirby monsters got boxer shorts and others just let it flap in the breeze. |

I know the Code, the changing times and other factors had a lot to do with it, but most of those late '50-early '60s the Kirby monster covers strike me as sort of coloring book-ish, what with the big blocky figures that were kind of cute in their own way (I can picture him cranking those covers out)...not to mention the matchless  cover prose. But I can see how those covers would've been a powerful draw for kids at the time. And congrats@tarkintino! |
