"Arkham" The scene showing the Arkham Asylum gate looked great. The villain of the week had an interesting weapon. Jada Pinkett Smith making out with that girl was pretty cool as was the cat fight. Other than that I didn't think this episode was particularly interesting. I don't know, I think this episode is more like what "everyone" has been saying they want-focus on Gordon working a case, no super-villain in it, just a hired killer with a signature kill mode, growing mob war in Gotham, no vigilantes, etc. i.e. more like Gotham Central, and so it will get tons of complaints because it's not what they want even though its what they say they want, because they won't ever be happy with this show and will keep moving the target as to what they think will make them happy, when in reality, bitching about the show is what makes them happy. Just seems ot be one of those things that fans aren't going to be happy unless they are unhappy about this show-yet it's done well enough that Fox just gave a full season order for it. Is the showed flawed? Certainly. Is it enjoyable? So far, my answer is yes, but then I wasn't going in with a pre-conceived (and probably unrealistic) notion of what I wanted it to be... -M

I just don't think this week was very compelling (which is more personal taste than anything). The biggest disappointment for me though were the Penguin scenes (which up until now I really enjoyed) felt very predictable. That being said I like where they are going with his character. Definitely a highlight of the show for me. My only pre-conceived notions of this show coming into it were that it would likely be a steaming pile as is mostly what I expect from anything on TV especially superhero adaptations. Despite it's flaws this show has been a pleasant surprise and mostly enjoyable or me.

"Viper" I thought this was better than last week. Gotham has definitely become the Penguin show and that's not a bad thing by any means. I'm really enjoying David Zayas as Salvatore Maroni. Nice to see Venom mentioned.

Episode 6 "Spirit of the Goat" was decent. Nice to see Dan Hedaya show up as Detective Dix. I find this version of Edward Nigma to be slightly annoying. The Penguin scenes were pretty weak and uneventful. The ending was great though.

I have to agree a little on Nigma. He definitely is veering toward the annoying aspect(almost played a bit too Jim Carry-ish from that version of Riddler). But there are glimmers to what he will become.

Haven't watch tonight's episode yet (taped it for tomorrow) but overall I am liking the series.
The only thing I worry is that it will go stale. I like how it is building around the Penguin and there have been teaser clips of eventually seeing the Joker. That all being said, I am a little worried that the lack of a Batman or an actual supervillain might kill the show at some point. So far, the acting has been strong and I like all of the people they have chosen for their respective roles. Fish Mooney is great, ditto for Maroni and Falcone. I just cannot see this as a series though lasting more than a couple seasons. Maybe there is a greater vision but if it is not going to culminate into something more superhero-ish, I can see it dying.
What would be kinda neat though is a crossover between this, Arrow and Flash. Dunno if that could be pulled off, but it would be neat to see.

I doubt they could cross it over since they are on different networks...hence Gotham is a different universe altogether than what we see in Arrow and Flash.

Sorry, to say this everyone - I just find this show not to my satisfaction and decided not to watch it anymore.

This latest ep was was one of the best so far. Still some silliness but much less than usual. Please just ditch Montoya, her partner and barbera immediaty. Get rid of them and their storylines entirely. And they can kill off the police captain too.

Episode 7 "Penguin's Umbrella" Starting to like Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean. Whoa Mr. Zsasz! Nice save by Montoya and Allen. The Penguins scenes continue to entertain me and I wasn't expecting the reveal at the end.

Still behind (up to "Viper"), but I like the show a lot more than I did after the first episode.

Episode 8 "The Mask" While I didn't really care for the Penguin or the Fish Mooney scenes I thought the case Gordon was investigating was interesting. Nice to see Todd Stashwick show up as Black Mask. The kid who plays Tommy Elliot is pretty creepy and seeing Bruce punch him in the face was kind of satisfying.

I am really enjoying the Jim Gordon story. He is really turning out to be some tough hero. Great show!
