Just watched this on Starz On Demand glad I waited for cable. It's fun in a bad movie sort of way. I hope this gets the Rifftrax treatment.

Recently saw Venom on Blu, and was extremely impressed by the film - despite not being a big fan of the character in the comics (I was never a huge fan of Spidey's black suit & the later Venom off-shoot).
However, as in the '90's Animated Spider-man, they discarded the idea that Venom was part of Spidey's black suit, and instead focused on having Venom be a "creature" that came to earth from outer space - on a space shuttle. I strongly prefer this "orgin" story to the one that was featured in the comics.
Tom Hardy was excellent as always, and did a great job as the "conduit" for Venom. Amazing effects & acting. Also liked the SF urban setting.
I will need to watch this again soon at some point - it was that good.

It's Maximum Carnage without Spidey, Demogoblin, or any of the other comic book elements. Watered down version of a bad comics crossover will likely lead to bad movie.

Obvious schlock, is obvious. Only question is are they gonna make it R-rated this time. If they aren't, I'm not interested.

I'd never intended to check out either film as I've never had any love for Venom, but Owen got me to watch the first film and, darn it, I really enjoyed it. The quest to be a good person when life has knocked you down is pretty much my favorite story, and having an alien symbiot in your head while you're doing it is a pretty interesting way to bring the internal conflict to the forefront with both hilarity and intensity. But we saw Let There Be Carnage tonight, and I'm prepared to call it the worst superhero film I've seen since the 1984 Supergirl film. This film actually made me want to go out and watch Dark Phoenix again because it would HAVE to seem a better film in contrast. The writing, the directing, the source material, and Woody Harrelson all seemed to drag this thing down into the gutter. Yech. My fault for believing in this franchise after the first one. FWIW there is a post-credits scene that suggests Venom will be showing up in the next spidey film
