Thought there was already a thread for this, but can't see it.
Anyway, the new Venom trailer is out, and ... it looks like garbage, IMHO, but your mileage may vary

Hard pass.
Seems like something that might have been better served as a Netflix show, as they could have slow-rolled the psychological aspects of it without feeling the need to "go big" with action scenes and the like on the silver screen.

I'll check it out. Not really a Venom fan though. Barely a Spider Man fan.

I'm a big Spider-Man fan, but I have no interest in seeing this whatsoever.

I know at this point the cg effects aren't finished yet...but man that animation looks dated.

I'm a big Spider-Man fan, but I have no interest in seeing this whatsoever. One could say that they have no interest in seeing this film precisely *because* they are a big Spider-Man film. This film appears to exist in a vacuum, having no relationship to the MCU or Spider-Man, which I think is a horrendously stupid idea. They should have just used a different name, different character design, and taken the basic story and developed it into a standalone sci-fi horror film.

He looks as ridiculous as he did in the comics.

Yeah, I've never really got Venom... it always seemed really stupid and an I could never see why it was popular. I also have always had a real problem with the tongue - where the hell is that supposed to be coming from? It's not from the host, and there's no place between the host's head for the tongue to be anchored

Depends on reviews and the girlfiend

I think Venom as a character was great to begin with...you know, as a scary adversary for Spider-Man. The character's first proper appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #300 was very memorable and he really cut a sinister figure. Also, Eddie Brock's original motivation -- that of an embittered and disgraced Daily Globe reporter -- was a good one.
The trouble is that Marvel overused Venom, which is understandable, given the popularity of the character, but he became less and less interesting with every appearance.
