rberman ... I did not know that he did X-Men and I do know that he helped Neil Gaiman's two Death series ... of which he did a great job with it. Yes, Chris Bachalo had a caricature style and some very interesting page layouts in the final 1/3 of Grant Morrison's New X-Men run, and lots of other X-Men work that I have not read as well, apparently. We will get to his New X-Men in a couple of weeks on my review thread. He also did some fine work with Mike Carey; check out the Supernovas trade.

Jerry Ordway on Superman I'm always surprised to see a Superman title on any list. What made the Jerry Ordway Superman title in the 90's a good read or even a must read in the 90's?

The Super titles were awesome back then; probably the best they've ever been.
Ordway, Stern, Michelinie, Simonson, Jurgens... that crew was incredible.
The same ones that gave us The Death of Superman.

I personally enjoyed most all of Kyle Rayner as GL. I liked Marz/Banks on Kyle as GL also. Which surprised me. I was all for the next generations of heroes replacing the originals. But I usually hated it when it came out of nowhere. For example : I hated Jean Paul Valley replacing Bruce but if Dick had become the new Batman I would have been excited. I would have been OK with Donna becoming Wonder Woman. Roy becoming Green Arrow. And so on. Wally as Flash was the best example on how to do it. I HATED DC making Hal evil but I did enjoy Kyle as GL. I would have preferred John Stewart as GL but Marz did a good job making Kyle relevant.

I would have preferred John Stewart as GL but Marz did a good job making Kyle relevant. Kyle appealed to me, out of the sheer fact that I have never like what I had read of Hal. I still don't really like Hal. Depending on the story I'm either indifferent to him, or bored. However not knowing much of the back ground of Hal as GL, for me is his role in Kyle being GL and then on into Final Night, worked for me. I liked Conner Hawke as GA at the time too. And the team ups of GL, GA and sometimes even Superboy really were good solid stories showcasing new heroes for those mantles. I never read any of WW and not much of Flash at the time. I bought some Flash for Salvador Larroca's art, but knowing nearly nothing about the characters, I did not stick with it very long. John is easily my second favorite GL. And until he started appearing in the GL title at the time, I had only ever read Cosmic Odyssey with him in it. But I really liked what they did with him in GL then. 90's DC was and has pretty much maintained being my favorite time for multiple different characters. I liked the new blood, and the old coming back in one way or another. Edit: I liked Jean Paul as Azreal. The Sword of Azreal is a great story, in my opinion. And probably even the peak of Knightfall, if you even consider it so. But what they did with Jean Paul as Batman was such a abomination of his character as Azrael for SoA that I was turned off to pretty much most of Knightsend/Quest. I don't know why they created a character when, like you said, Dick would have been available to fill the role. And much more suited. But I guess, if anything, Jean Paul's zeal making him more malicious and blood-thirsty, at least was an abject lesson, for the lack of being a wordsmith, for Bruce to never fall down that path himself. (Not that he necessarily needed the reminder per say.)

I too liked the next gen. I really liked all of them and it made perfect sense.
Hal is the least interesting Lantern. I really like the other 3 better. Have hardly read any of Jessica and Simon.

I wish DC would do a 12 issue series with the original Titans stepping into their mentor's roles & Kyle & Conner replacing GL & GA.

Any chance you could leave a brief comment about why you like these series, rather than just spamming images?

I too liked the next gen. I really liked all of them and it made perfect sense. Hal is the least interesting Lantern. I really like the other 3 better. Have hardly read any of Jessica and Simon. Hal to me, is the definite Green Lantern and perhaps one of greatest and yet members here don't like him for a variety of reasons and it's bothers me alot. I respect your judgment ... but I think Hal is the best GL in my book. Alan to me, is the most iconic and bold Green Lantern and for me alone -- both Hal and Alan earned the rights to be Green Lanterns. His costume is the best of the best. Guy to me, is the most frustrating Lantern of them all, and I just can't stand his attitude and I've just have a hard time relating to him. He irritates me greatly. Kyle to me, is one of my favorites and he has great creativity to be a Green Lantern and I consider him a good Lantern and I was very happy of his time with the Titans and the JLA. Simon to me, doesn't deserve to be a Green Lantern and I just can't stand him at all. Why he needs a Gun when you have the Ring? Jessica to me, is an unknown and I don't know nothing about her.
