Thanks very much for the Mego ST Toyfair pics. I am impressed by the forthcoming, new 8" figures, and it's cool to see all of the current & forthcoming re-booted 8" Mego ST figures in one place.
I do hope that the 2018 carded regular uniform (blue) Spock & dress uniform Kirk are re-released this year, since I was never able to get them the first time around (and I'm sure I wasn't the only one).
However, I am not impressed with the 14" scale ST figures. I may have considered getting these....if the likenesses looked better. These really look nothing like the actors on the show, more like caricatures - very disappointing. The Gorn looks fine, obviously because that's an alien. It's ironic that the 8" versions of these character look a lot more like the actors than the 14" versions - even though the facial detail should be easier to capture in the larger scale.

The 14 inch figures are prototypes, not finished figures, and they use the head sculpts from the old Mego 12 inch Star Trek the Motion Picture line (of older Shatner & Nimoy not younger as they were in TOS). Since the box art on them is obviously a mock up and not a finished product (it says 8 inch figures not 14 inch) I think these are pretty much place holders to show what will be rather what they are actually going to look like. I'm reserving judgment until I see finished products on the 14 inch Trek because of that. I'm sure we will see new pics of closer to finished figs as they get closer to release, but I wouldn't expect 14 inch Trek to hit shelves until much later inthe year. -M

Some speculation the others will be out later in the year, but nothing confirmed. There's some speculation that Gene only licensed the 2 current members to Mego rather than Mego not wanting to do all four, but nothing is definite. -M

but regardless, they have the rights to use all 4
just very odd for Mego to present at Toy Fare, and show two new "End of the Road" figures, but only Gene/Paul.
weird.

Here's an impromptu interview with Marty Abrams at Toy Fair... he's asked if other members of Kiss are coming and he simply answers yes. Also based on what he says about licenses and some of the TV lines later in the interview, I think the Target deal hamstrung some of what they could do (Target dictated a lot of the nostalgia licenses) and they are now focusing on the lines they wanted and that were more successful to them and expanding the lines like horror, Trek, music Icons, etc. So I am guessing you will see the other members of Kiss later this year. The stuff from Toy Fair is to get retailers to buy in, so is a representative sample of the line (Marty said it represented about 60-65% of the catalog at one point). So having Gene and Paul figures there is enough to sell retailers on a Kiss line I guess. -M

mrp, Thanks for the clarification re: the 14" forthcoming ST figures. I wasn't aware these were prototypes. I guess I'll also wait until I see the finished product to decide on whether or not I'm going to get them. At the least, I would definitely be interested in getting a 12" Classic Trek Spock & Kirk characters - if the likeness was at least close to the way the characters looked like on the show. I do remember the Star Trek: The Motion Picture 12" & 3.75" scale figures. I never got any of these, since I felt the "pajama" uniforms (LOL) looked bland, and I wasn't thrilled with the film that much, either. However, I do remember there were some very rare aliens that were in both scales - these looked great, but I only remember seeing the pictures on the back(s) of the cards/boxes. These had extremely limited production, and were quite HTF. I wouldn't mind if they re-made just the aliens from this line in the Mego 8" or 14" scale - even though they were never made in the 8" scale back in the day: www.megomuseum.com/startrek/sttmp12.htmlwww.megomuseum.com/startrek/sttmp.html

Another interview with Marty from Toy Fair...
this one has better camera work to see the new offerings.
Some tidbits-Twisted Sister is among the stuff coming to the Music Icons line, and Worf and other Klingons are coming to the Star Trek line.
Also, apparently the deal with Stan Lee's POW entertainment was done and signed before Stan passed.

Thanks for the link to the Marty interview - interesting. Hopefully Mego/Target will straighten out the distribution issues that plagued the line last Fall; i.e., I hope the new offerings this year are easier to find than the ones last year.

I am not sure Target is going to continue carrying the stuff moving forward. They have the new Target exclusive Legends-Ali, Marilyn, Farrah, Andre the Giant and Joe Namath-but have shown no indication they are carrying anything else that isn't target exclusive. The other stuff is available online at places like Entertainment Earth, Big Bad Toy Store, Amok Time and others, plus through wholesalers to retailers who want to carry them-comic shops, indy toy stores, etc.) but there has been no definite announcement of any brick and mortar retail partners for the stuff in 2019. I pre-ordered some of the stuff form Big Bad Toy Store, but am waiting to see if a local retailer will carry them before deciding what to do about the rest I want. -M

Another interview with Marty and some hints of what's to come...
Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister and MarilynManson coming to the rock Icons line, and at about the 13 minute mark we see an in process sculpt of what looks to be a Severus Snape head, so possibly Harry Potter coming?

I pre-ordered some of the Wave 4 Megos I wanted from Big Bad Toy Store and they arrived this afternoon (along with a pair of Fantastic Beasts Rock Candy figs my wife wanted). There are a few more from the wave I am interested in, and there is still the 14 inch DC wave, but these were my 8 have to haves and I preordered to make sure I could get them. Glow-in-the-dark Frankie and Count Orloff... Bruce Lee and Monterey Jimi Hendrix... The Romulan Commander and Lt. Uhura... Kirk & Spock in dress uniforms... -M

As pleased as I've been to see Mego back, I have had no desire to buy any of the actual figures I've seen released. ...until now.
