Doctor Fate - This is a list of YOUR favorite characters so I think it should be made of those that you really like, regardless of what the rest of us may think of them. We all have a our share of favorite characters that others don't find that interesting. As much as I love heavy-weights like Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Power Girl, and Zatanna, I like less popular characters like Bumblebee, Joker's Daughter, Air Wave, Sargon the Sorcerer, and Rima the Jungle Girl as well.

Please, don't misconstrue my comments as anything but my own opinion and there's nothing to be defensive. I would think a forum posting is all about sharing your thoughts with others and inviting feedback. I have no doubt the Doc is kind to animals, both real and the penciled-on-a-page type. So what if he didn't let me sneak in Zook on a different thread earlier. Thats OK. Zook can be patient. His time will come. O yes,his time will come

As much as I love heavy-weights like Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Power Girl, and Zatanna, I like less popular characters like Bumblebee, Joker's Daughter, Air Wave, Sargon the Sorcerer, and Rima the Jungle Girl as well. I do like Bumblebee, Air Wave, Sargon the Sorcerer but in my own hometown I wasn't exposed to them at much as you do. Remember I'm a man in my mid-50's and I have certain problems with Joker's Daughter of whom is fairly new and does not have the longevity of the other characters that been introduced of lately. As far as Rima the Jungle Girl concern - I only knew her in the Superfriends Animated Cartoon and I just checked through the internet and I did not know that there was a DC COMICS character that was already in print form. Think about this - there are hundreds, and hundreds of characters out there and I just have a very difficult time canvassing all the DC Comics Characters and I tried my best to include characters that I thought would be interesting to place in my top 50. But, with the limited resources that I had when I was a kid and my parents were totally against Comic Books my favorites maybe the heavyweights that you mentioned here and that's my exposure as a kid. My Dad, of whom I don't speak at all he threw out all my Comic Books - over 1,500 out 2 to 3 years after I moved out and never, ever forgive him for that. My Dad whom is still living today is 30 years older than me and we don't speak at all. That's why I tried my best to place these DC COMICS Superheroes from Number 50 down to Number 1 and that's not an easy thing to do and I tried to make it fair as possible and I'm so sorry that I just having a hard time with Joker's Daughter and I'm not reading Justice League Canada/United anymore because DC COMICS did the unthinkable of having both Lex Luthor and Captain Cold on the team and I do remember from the old forum that we had and I had to ask you who the guy on the left side of the picture and you said Captain Cold and I was literally flipped when I saw that and I told Jeff that I'm dropping this title for that reason alone. To me, Lex Luthor and Captain Cold are villains and I have a hard time accepting the fact that Catwoman was on the Justice League of America team when the had Manhunter from Mars and Hawkman on it. I'm old schooled and I just see things night and day and now DC COMICS is making some grey areas that I just having a hard time accepting it. This list is the most difficult list to put together and I had I spent over a period of 3-4 days about 2-3 hours per day analyzing each and everyone of these characters and after this list is completed - Marvel was 3 times harder than DC COMICS and I have already done that and ready to go after this list is completed. It's not an easy thing to do - but it's all based on my own personal experience and exposure and that alone along with my Parents hatred of Comic Books makes it even more difficult to tabulate my list that I'm sharing with all of you here. That's all I have to say.

I didn't think too much of the latest version of the Joker's Daughter myself. (I heard about it. But I didn't read it. It just sounded too too terrible!)
But that's not who we're talking about. An earlier version appeared in the 1970s in Batman Family and the Teen Titans. She started out as a villain and eventually reformed and joined the Titans as the Harlequin.
I think. I'm writing this from memory, so I might be a little off on the details.

"Batgirl celebrates the "BISON-TENNIAL"!
You get it? BISON-TENNIAL! Because it's a bison and it's the bicentennial!
Ladies and gentlemen, the Bronze Age of Comics ...

My Dad whom is still living today is 30 years older than me and we don't speak at all. I'm sure the reason you don't speak is more involved than just the comic books. I'm glad my parents never prevented my comic reading when I was younger, they probably figured there were worse things I could be involved with ( Drugs, gangs, etc.) You only get one mom and dad, maybe it's time to forgive them.

My two favorites from your list so far:
They both easily make my top 30. I have always thought that it would be interesting to read a Brave and Bold team-up of the two, seeing that Ted Grant is a boxer and Al Pratt a wrestler. There is surely an interesting angle on that for a cool story.

Number 32 - StarmanAlter Ego - Ted Knight, Team Affiliations - Justice Society of America, All-Star Squardon Created by - Gardner Fox Illustrated by - Jack Burnley Abilities Superhuman strength, An astronomer, Knight invented a "gravity rod", later reinvented as a "cosmic rod", allowing him to fly and manipulate energy. Brilliant intellect, Fine hand to hand combatant, Gifted inventor, Flight, Stellar energy, light, and heat projection, and Force field and simple energy construct generation with bouts of telekinesis. Interesting Fact - He made a special miniature "cosmic rod" for Black Canary for special emergencies. Because they often worked together on many missions. See bonus photo. And, in 1942 Ted enlists in the U.S. Army Air Force and serves very briefly as a pilot during World War 2. Reason for Rank: Ted was convinced by his cousin, Sandra Knight, the Phantom Lady, to use his invention to become a costumed crime fighter; having said that he accepted her offer and used his vast resources to combat crime. It is his costume being plain and simple with that unique fin headdress and striking red and green costume became an instant favorite of mine ever since.

Number 31 - Power GirlAlter Ego - Kara Zor-L, also known as Karen Starr Team Affiliations - Justice Society of America, Justice League of America, Infinity, Inc., Birds of Prey, Suicide Squad, and Sovereign Seven - Created by - Gerry Conway Illustrated by - Ric Estrada Abilities Superhuman strength, Superhuman speed, Superhuman endurance, Superhuman agility Healing factor, Superhuman hearing, Freeze breath, Telescopic vision, Microscopic vision Heat vision, X-ray vision, Invulnerability, and Flight. Interesting Fact - Possessing all standard Kryptonian powers, she is a member of the Justice Society of America and the team's first chairwoman. Power Girl sports a bob of blond hair; wears a distinctive white, red, and blue costume; and has an aggressive fighting style. Reason for Rank: Because of her aggressive fighting style and sheer determination to get the job done as fast as possible - she doesn't like to waste a single second because I get that impression when I read Power Girl. Having said that and that alone makes her a favorite of mine during her time with the Justice Society of America. Her three JLA appearances wearing some of the most ridiculous costumes - if she kept her costume like the one on top for most of her existence - I would ranked her much more higher. I'm talking about the costume starting with the white and yellow to the most absurd costume of all time - the two costumes in the middle with that boyish haircut of her.

Power Girl is one of my favorites! The series a few years ago with Amanda Conner art was a lot of fun (almost as good as the Stephanie Brown Batgirl series being published at the same time, both canceled for the New 52).
Last year, I read her earliest appearances in the Al-Star Comics reprints TPB. I love her very aggressive, in-your-face, grrl-power attitude. Like in this exchange with Wildcat: Gotta love that Wally Wood art!
Yeah, maybe she was a little hard on the boys. But somebody had to say it. And she mellowed quite a bit over the years.
I was reading comics when All-Star came out, but I wasn't reading that many DC comics. And I probably would have read the All-Star Comics revival if I had known about it, but distribution must have been bad in my area because I don't remember seeing it on the comics rack.
I didn't start seeing much of Power Girl until I started reading JLA a few years later. PG was in the JLA/JSA cross-over where they all met the All-Star Squadron and the one after that.
Remember that awful awful awful costume (it was more than one, wasn't it?) she wore in JLE? Ugh! And when she was pregnant even though there was no father? Double ugh! I quit reading JLE before that was resolved and I have never been the least bit curious how that came out.
The most recent revival in World's Finest had its moments. (I only read the first 10 issues or so.) But it had another awful costume! I heard they gave her a different one, but they had already lost me.

Power Girl is probably in my top ten favorite DC characters right now. The Worlds' Finest monthly title may not be a fan favorite, but I think Paul Levitz has done a good job of depicting Karen Starr as a caring person and true hero. She is no-nonsense when it comes to her job and goals, but she is all heart when it comes to helping people. I particularly enjoy Power Girl's friendship with Helena Wayne, the Huntress.
