Roughly 10-20 bucks apiece from sane dealers (not ebay), but can sometimes be found cheaper in antique malls, the dusty, ratty mag section of some comic shops, etc. The most expensive issues in the series may be V5 #5 (53) and V5 #6 (54), primarily due to the 1st and 2nd appearances of Taarna in the magazine. The 2nd appearance is primarily cover-only, but it is the same image used in the film poster, so it's a classic cover-only collectible.
By the way, it's issues 51-55, and then the final chapter is not published until issue #58 (V5 #10). Issues 56-57 do not have Outland chapters.
I'm waiting til it gets to the dollar box.
I would expect nothing less from you. You've got a reputation to uphold!

I wonder what the 6 issues of Heavy Metal with Outland would cost. 51-56 This book was scanned and then printed, so that diminishes the original. the irony for me is I have a coverless copy of that 2nd Taarna issue that I got for 50 cents, but I haven't found an affordable copy with a cover. -M

I do have a set of scans of the whole story. So, I would not spend the $$ for those mags. OTH if they did an Artists Edition....

I'm pretty sure I have the Heavy Metal issues Outland was in, though I'd better check to make sure. I know I bought and read them when they came out and I don't remember getting rid of them at any point.

That Outland story is cool and worthy of reprinting, but what I would REALLY like to see is a high quality reprint of Superman 400, including that Steranko Superman story.

Anyway, there's a horse involved in there, somewhere.

We are apparently of one mind on this subject. Alternatively, Slam is actually a front for Zontar and is controlling my brain.

Thanks to Marvel Comics, The A-Team got a three-issue mini-series, the first issue of which went on sale 40 years ago today, featuring cover art by John Romita (pencils) and Marie Severin (inks): I quite like the cover they did for German readers: And here’s the French reprint of the first issue, featuring a cover done by Ciro Tota: The UK and Australia got reprints, too, but the covers were virtually the same as the original. I’m surprised there weren’t more A-Team comics, given how much of a juggernaut the show appeared to be.

"Pantha" from DEADSHOT #2 by Ostrander, Yale, and McDonnell: Am I reading too much into this or is this a dig at parody of a certain comic book writer?

Could be, though I would suspect that Ostrander would a little more appreciative of Don McGregor's work than some others, given his own themes in his stories. I suspect less a dig than a loving razz.

Today I learned that Mac Raboy was paid $300/week when he took over the Flash Gordon Sunday in 1949. That’s $3870 in 2023 money. Or just over $200,000 a year. That’s pretty good money.

We often hear that most Golden Age comics artists really had their hopes on moving up to newspaper syndication, and I guess that's one good reason why. And then there's also the prospect of celebrity; Jack Kirby never got on tv and Life magazine and in the newspaper headlines like Al Capp or Milt Caniff. I'm sure that Raboy was probably given an above average salary, but I've never wondered what an average salary was for an American comic strip artist.
