I felt so angry today. I was reading The Brave and The Bold today (based on the cartoon). And, my friends, I could not help but smile at Calendar Man’s dastardly plan: Evil. Should Batman ever kill? On that occasion, Batman should have thrown Calendar Man off the rooftop. You don’t mess with Christmas cards. Fun story, by the way! Incidentally, would tampering with Christmas cards be a federal crime? Calendar Man should think about that…

Comic strip Hagar the Horrible debuted 50 years ago today, created by Dik Browne, and syndicated by King Features Syndicate. Hagar is a Viking in Norway during the Middle Ages - and who has a long-suffering wife. I can’t find the first strip, but here’s a couple:

My favorite Hagar, from the ACG comic..... I believe it was an unpublished Charlton book, which was part of the materials Roger Boughton bought up, from the sale of Charlton's properties and production materials. Nice spoof of Frazetta, too. I especially love the expressions on the bears, as they try to haul Hagar's butt, over the snow.

I do not have it (or any print comics) anymore. It was typical of the strips, as far as I can recall.

I love Hagar (it was one of my favorite humor strips as a kid) and I collect Frazetta ephemera, so this book was on my list as soon as I learned of its existence. I've just never had the chance to pull the trigger. -M

Today is the anniversary of Bill Fingers birth (b. 2/8/1914). He would have been 109 years old today. He was incredibly underappreciated and underrecognized for his contributions to comics during his lifetime, so take a moment to honor him today.

Found this scrolling through facebook the other day. Geeze, how rich do you have to be to have DC make you your own personal comic book for your bar mitzvah?

Real estate magnate in the New York area.....pretty dang wealthy, I will bet. Indulgent, too. Of course, had it been a certain gentile son of a real estate magnate, it would have been a different comic book.
Lot more blonds, for one thing.

Said gentile son wouldn't have been a character in a Superman story, *he* would have been Superman.
