Probably not "the best", but dashed odd: The Space Voyagers, a science fiction series written by Robert Kanigher and drawn by Alex Nino, hidden in the back of the first five issues of DC's Rima, The Jungle Girl. I haven't read them in years, but my recollection is that Kanigher at his least intelligible combined with Nino's art, which never struck me as the easiest storytelling to follow, made The Space Voyagers quite a baffling series of five-pagers.

In the 90s, X-Men stories were being reprinted in Classic X-Men (or X-Men Classic) starting with GS X-Men #1. Each issue had an 8 page backup story by Claremont/John Bolton that expanded on an aspect of the reprinted tale. Beautiful artwork and smartly written

The John Carter serial that ran as a back-up in Tarzan when the character moved to DC was pretty darn good. It's only when it switched to the Weird Worlds magazine that liberties taken with the novels started causing problems.

I would think I could remember some Nino art, but all I can remember is Redondo's Rima, which is what I bought the series for. I guess I have another thing on the list to read again, that I had forgotten about.

Beautiful artwork and smartly written I found a lot of them forgettable, but I was positively blown away by the ones featuring a young Scott Summers at the orphanage being tormented by Mr. Sinister. Were there only two of them?

Do you still have this Comic Book? Let me check. . .(Muzak version of "The Way We Were" plays). . .that's odd, I could have sworn I'd left it in the Bentley's glove box. Anything? Really? Hold on, let me check the Rolls!

The Silver Age ones can be a little pricey too, the modern ones not so much. Eventhe Marvel Milestone Edition reprints from the 90s are starting to climb a bit. -M

Lonestar is paying almost that much in credit for an copy of that issue, but is currently out of stock so I don't know how much they would list it as, but presumably 3-4x what they are paying out for it. The Millennium's regularly go for double digit prices in the Lonestar auctions when I see them listed, so it's not like that's a price the market won't bear right now. Nowhere else short of the original issue can you get a full facsimile edition of those books with all the stories and all the material included. I've been trying to get the Golden Age ones I missed when they came out for a while now , and finding them cheap has not really happened. I lucked into an Our Army at War 1st Sgt. Rock issue in a 50 cent bin at Half Priced Books earlier this year, but that's been it. -M

Well, it's hardly ever not advertised that there's something extra for your buck, but I found one I didn't know about.
